SONIC THE HEDGEHOG First Trailer Delivers Plenty Of High Speed Thrills As He Races Into The Real World

The first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog has arrived, and it puts the beloved video game character squarely in our world. The question is, is he the next Detective Pikachu or the stuff of nightmares?

As expected, the first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog has raced online and, well, something tells us this is really going to get fans talking. Transporting the beloved video game character into the real world is definitely an interesting move, but it's clear that the VFX still need to be finished.

The humour seems to be on point, though, and Jim Carrey is clearly having fun as a very different take on Robotnik (make sure to stick around until the end of the trailer for a surprise).

The action also appears to be strong, as does the use to Sonic's speedster abilities on screen.

It's honestly hard to say which way this one will go, but Detective Pikachu reportedly breaks the video game movie curse so it may struggle to top that. According to the official synopsis, "Small-town sheriff Tom Wachowski journeys to San Francisco to assist Sonic, an anthropomorphic blue hedgehog who can run at incredible speeds, in his battle against Dr. Robotnik."
