Square Enix could finally be ready to lift the curtain on The Avengers Project
, the mysterious, but highly anticipated Marvel game coming from developer Crystal Dynamics. While nothing official has been confirmed, the publisher has been teasing its upcoming E3 broadcast and fans have noticed an intriguing detail.
Upon first glance, the teasers just look like simple announcements for the broadcast, which will be held on Monday, June 10 at 6:00 p.m. PT. However, upon further inspection, fans spotted something very interesting about the adjacent portraits.
Hopeful fans have interpreted the colors of the surrounding pictures to be a representation of the Infinity Stones. As you can see, the first teaser posted last month was green and blue. At the time, not much was made of the image.
However, this week, Square Enix posted another teaser image, this time with the colors being swapped to purple and orange. This has led people to believe that these are representing four of the Infinity Stones - Time, Space, Power, and Soul.
We'll have a better idea if this theory holds weight should Square Enix post a third image with the final two colors, yellow and red, which would be the Mind Stone and Reality Stone.
Speculation that Square could finally properly reveal The Avengers Project
always tends to build prior to big events, but E3 is easily the biggest when it comes to the video game industry. A similar excitement arose last year ahead of The Game Awards. And when it wasn't shown, creative director Shaun Escayg took to social media to assure fans that the studio is still "hard at work" on what he called a "very ambitious" game.
Unfortunately, that's about all we've heard officially about the game since it was first teased in December 2017
A game based on beloved Marvel heroes, The Avengers project is being crafted by Crystal Dynamics – longtime developers of the award winning Tomb Raider series – in collaboration with lauded Deus Ex developer Eidos-Montréal. The Avengers project is being designed for gamers worldwide and will be packed with all the characters, environments, and iconic moments that have thrilled longtime fans of the franchise. Featuring a completely original story, it will introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come.
Square Enix will host its E3 showcase on Monday, June 10 at 6:00 p.m. PT. Hopefully, The Avengers Project
will be there.
