From the masterful minds of Grant Morrison (FINAL CRISIS, THE MULTIVERSITY) and Yanick Paquette (SWAMP THING, BATMAN, INC.) comes the most provocative origin of Wonder Woman you’ve ever seen — a wholly unique retelling that still honors her origins.

For millennia, the Amazons of Paradise Island have created a thriving society away from the blight of man. One resident, however, is not satisfied with this secluded life — Diana, Princess of the Amazons, knows there is more in this world and wants to explore, only to be frustrated by her protective mother, Hippolyta. Diana finds her escape when Air Force pilot Steve Trevor, the first man she has ever seen, crashes onto their shores. With his life hanging in the balance, Diana ventures into the long forbidden world of men. The Amazons chase after her and bring her back to Paradise Island in chains to face trial for breaking their oldest law…staying separated from the world that wronged them.

Thought provoking yet reverent, thoroughly modern but still timeless, the power and courage of Paradise Island’s greatest champion — Wonder Woman — is introduced in this new addition to DC’s New York Times best selling Earth One original graphic novel series.

Wonder Woman: Earth One - Volume One is released in comic book stores on April 6th, 2016, and in book stores on April 12th, 2016. Are you interested in picking the book up? Let us know in the usual place...

@MikeHawk

As a feminist, I won't ridicule this cover, just find the art meh at best.

Also, might I ask, what's so horrible about people wanting equal rights?

@sintzu Well, actually, I believe the outcry against the Batgirl variant was appropriate given the context behind it. Barbara Gordon is so much like Bruce Wayne in more ways than one and she's considered very strong her line of work so the cover never made any sense with her character to begin with. That's like making Batman held hostage and being visibly distressed about it by making him cry and feel victimized. There're tons of covers with Batman and Superman held hostage but none of them depicted as Barbara's was. Plus, the variant was too dark for her relaunched solo, anyway. I don't wanna be "that guy" but... c'mon, let's be real, artists, animators, and writers tend to depict women as more vulnerable to crying and hysteria moreso than stern or brooding men when facing dire situations. Barbara would act just like Batman would in this situation.

In general, speaking as an artist, the anatomy is a little eh, mainly because I'm not a fan of her boobs bigger than her head. Hope no one decries the chains though, given that it's a nod to her classic stories but I can see people tying to make something out of it.

If you want a better example though, I'd say the Harley Quinn "killing herself" outcry that everyone gave DC shit for 2 years ago.

Yeah, his name in this case was William Marston. Welcome to your (apparently) first ever Wonder Woman conversation.

I see Donna Troy and Cassie Sandsmark on that cover.

Looks like he's going for a modern approach, instead of WWII.
Looks like he's focusing on the kinky, too.
I would prefer WWII and not so kinky, but this could be a good introduction of the character to the world of Earth One, nonetheless.

Odin@ Teen Titans - Earth One isn't bad. It's average, but passable. They kinda try to do everything at once, but with a more YA approach. It'll do. It's certainly not Wolfman/Perez or anything, but it'll do.

As a FemiNazi, SuperCat's girlfriend is slightly more concerned with rounding up Jewish folk than educating people on the inequalities that women face in western society.

Huzzah, another Grant Morrison rework of an old favourite!

Should be fun, at least - and could be truly great, like his JLA and Superman runs.

I couldn't care less if she's in chains or what the feminists have to say about that. What offends me is that she's FAT - she looks like a female wrestler. Wonder Woman is not fat, neither is she Gal Gadot.
