Hippolyta’s tale told to young Diana was one of the highlights of Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman. Her story was illustrated by the sequence of moving paintings to help the audience understand the Amazons’ origins and the roots of their eternal conflict with the ruthless Ares.

The scene was brought to life by Platige Image. You might not recognize the studio’s name, but if you ever played any of The Witcher games, you have surely seen their works, as they animated all of the games’ beautiful cinematics. The Polish studio was nominated for an Oscar with their big 2002 debut, The Cathedral. Tomasz Bagiński, the head of the studio is currently working with Netflix to adapt Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Last Wish and The Sword of Destiny, the beginning of The Witcher saga.
