WONDER WOMAN 1984: Diana Lassos Cheetah & Max Lord In New Photos From Patty Jenkins' Upcoming Sequel

With Wonder Woman 1984 gracing the cover of Empire Magazine, a few low-res images from the latest issue have surfaced online, showcasing some of the action to come as Diana (Gal Gadot) squares off with a pair of formidable new foes in the form of Max Lord (Pedro Pascal) and The Cheetah (Kristen Wiig).

While Max is human and easily susceptible to the Lasso of Truth, it looks like the Amazon princess will have her work cut out for her when she comes face-to-face with former friend-turned-foe Cheetah, who seems to have at least a healthy degree of resistance to the Lasso's true might.

Primetime Emmy Award-nominee Patty Jenkins is back in the director's chair with a screenplay she co-wrote with Geoff Johns and Dave Callaham. The cast also includes Robin Wright, Connie Nielsen, Natasha Rothwell, Ravi Patel, and Gabriella Wilde.

I do not understand the excitement about this film. The villains seem quite a bit of a step down from Oh...I don't know...Doomsday...the god Ares...or even Steppenwolf.

Wonder Woman is now going to fight a woman with "cat" powers...and a sleazy business man. This is the definition of "anti-epic!"

@jerryblake - No. He’s playing Maxwell Lord.

@jerryblake - I think Lord gets hold of a Chaos Shard/Crystal. It's a left-over element from the sphere of the gods.

This somehow feels like it already came and went. World's turned upside down, man.

I really enjoyed the first film and still consider it the best of the DCEU but this just hasn't captured my excitement. Cheetah doesn't seem like much of a threat to Wonder Woman and the whole 80's nostalgia has already been over saturated. This feels like it's coming a few years after the height of 80's nostalgia.

Cheetah doesn't seem like a legit enough threat to Diana imo. I can't picture Wiig bringing that ferocity to her that makes you believe Diana is in trouble when she takes her on in the comics. Also, Diana's power in these films just seems overwhelming.
