WONDER WOMAN 1984's Secret Post-Credits Scene Revealed As International Screenings Begin - SPOILERS

Wonder Woman 1984 opened in the U.K. and a handful of other countries earlier today, and that means the film's secret post-credits scene has finally been revealed after not being included in screeners!

Press screeners for Wonder Woman 1984 didn't include the film's post-credits scene in an effort to give fans something to look forward to when the film is released...without it being spoiled beforehand. The flaw in that logic, however, is that the sequel started arriving in theaters overseas today.

That leaves Wonder Woman fans in the U.S. waiting over a week to watch the film in theaters or on HBO Max, so as the title suggests, we now have details on what this mid-credits scene entails.

--- MAJOR SPOILER WARNING ---

Bleeding Cool reveals that the scene stars original Wonder Woman television actress Lynda Carter. It's revealed that her name is Asteria, the previous owner of the Golden Eagle armor Diana Prince wears in Wonder Woman 1984. After saving someone, the Themysciran warrior mentions that she's "been doing this all this time," a hint, perhaps, that she has been serving as a hero in the shadows for many hundreds of years (and since first finding her way to the world of man). The actress winks at the camera as the scene ends, a tongue-in-cheek nod to Carter's past as Wonder Woman.

This isn't the most detailed of descriptions, and we hope to have more for you soon, but this would explain Carter's past comments that Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins had asked her to cameo.

The stinger is a fun one, but whether it will lead to anything is a mystery for the time being. However, many fans would appreciate seeing a Gal Gadot/Lynda Carter team-up in an eventual Wonder Woman 3 (likely to be a ways away now Jenkins is tackling Rogue Squadron for Lucasfilm).

Cool, looks to be a harmless non teasing post credit scene. Interested to see how they'll do it on the big screen.

@Blergh -

Idk, it very well could be a direct link to the Flash movie's use of the Multiverse by way of its use of Keaton's Batman.

I really don't like this idea unless they've de-aged her. I would have much more preferred a simple one and done cameo, and the after credits to be a villain tease for the next movie. An old Amazon, doesn't really make sense to me.

OT: Just finished Tenet and my roommate near slapped me LMAO.

A technical wonder. However, script wise, pacing wise, plotting, and story wise....a miss. John David was the epitome of cool in a few scenes that allowed it to be showcased. Need to see him in an espionage tinged flick like this where he isn’t wasted totally.

Some people seem a bit confused and the description sucks so I'll give a quick recap to the best of my ability as I saw the film earlier. Spoilers but I won't reveal anything not to do with the credit scene.

SPOILERS

Diana has the Golden Eagle armour and says it is an artifact of her people. She explains and we see a flashback scene where we see that the Golden Eagle armour was worn by Asteria.

Asteria it is said held off the male warriors while other Amazons made it to Themiscyra. In the film when we see this scene we basically see the character surrounding themselves with the wings so we barely see them except for an eye peering out. I thought it was Lynda Carter then tbh but figured it for a subtle cameo.

In the mid-credits scene a pillar is about to fall on a woman when someone swats it away. There's a throwback here to a line earlier in the film that Diana delivers. The person she saves is confused and Lynda Carter states she has been doing this for a while and winks at the camera. She is credited in the film's credits as Asteria for what it is worth. So don't expect this to be Wonder Woman from another universe or anything unless they retcon.
