WONDER WOMAN 2 Moves Up Six Weeks To Avoid STAR WARS: EPISODE IX

WONDER WOMAN 2 Moves Up Six Weeks To Avoid STAR WARS: EPISODE IX

It sounds like Warner Bros. is extremely bullish on their upcoming Wonder Woman sequel as they've just pushed up its 2019 release date by six whole weeks to avoid competition from Star Wars: Episode IX!

Multiple sources have confirmed that Warner Bros. has moved up their highly-anticipated Wonder Woman sequel from December 13, 2019 to November 1, 2019.

Primetime Emmy-nominated director Patty Jenkins will return to helm the sequel and despite a conflicting report this weekend, Gal Gadot will indeed reprise her fan-favorite role as Diana of Themyscira.

This move, which should delight fans worldwide, comes just two short months after Disney and Lucasfilm announced their decision to push back Star Wars: Episode IX from May 2019 to December 20, 2019. Now, while not explicitly stated, it's not a stretch to assume that Warner Bros. determined it would be best to avoid direct competition with that blockbuster trilogy capper, so they moved their movie a few weeks up.

DC Films will now see the release of at least three movies in the 2019 calendar year, with Shazam! slated for April 5, 2019, an Untitled DC Film slated for June 14, 2019, and now, Wonder Woman 2 occupying the November 1st date they fortunately already had booked.

Looking ahead at the film's new release date, it will now face stiff competition from Bond 25 the following weekend and an Untitled Fox/Marvel Film around the end of the month on November 22.

So, what do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below!

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers...and her true destiny.

Wonder Woman features:

@SonOfAGif - ...well Star Wars already had that date. And November isn't a bad time to release a movie anyway. Plus it's better than being there and both movies losing money. Why does everything have to be a competition between studios? Why can't a choice just be smart business?

Wait, why was the date December 13th crossed out when it was pointing out that it was being moved from that date to November? Was the movie never scheduled to be in December? When was the movie originally going to be released in? I need to know!

@MakioCR - I have a feeling she will definitely be returning. Her Wonder Woman did very well and they will do everything they can to try and replicate that success. Ratner's going and she's staying on.

@Origame - Well this universe almost lose a Batman , will be bad to lose our Wonder Gal too... plus Ratner deal is bigger than i thought that company put a lot of money in a lot of movies so is nothing they can change that easily.

(Ratner can suck a dick tho).

@MakioCR - They'll find a way. It's getting to the point where Wonder Woman is being to them what Iron Man is to Marvel. It they're smart, they'll find a way. Plus, those allegations make the matter something to save face on anyway.
