WONDER WOMAN 3: Chris Pine Comments On The Possibility Of Returning As Steve Trevor (Again)

Chris Pine reprised the role of Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman 1984, but could another return be in the works for Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman 3? Well, the actor doesn't sound overly keen on a DCEU comeback.

In the midst of the pandemic, Warner Bros. decided to release Wonder Woman 1984 on HBO Max. Initially, the sequel was met with positive reviews, but the tide changed and it went from being "Certified Fresh" to one of DC's worst-reviewed movies. Chris Pine's return as Steve Trevor divided fans after the events of 2017's Wonder Woman, but it sounds like that really was it for the war hero.

During a recent interview with USA Today, the actor praised filmmaker Patty Jenkins saying, "she just has such confidence in letting her opinions be known and a collaborative spirit, in terms of getting what she wants done." However, when Pine was asked if he's spoken to her or Gal Gadot about continuing Steve's story in Wonder Woman 3, he gave something of a blunt response.

"I think poor Steve is dead, but I wish them all the best on the third one," Pine stated.

Okay, then! Clearly, Pine is in no rush to return to the DC Extended Universe, and he might have been better off saying farewell to Steve Trevor after the positive response to the first Wonder Woman movie. If The Flash really does rewrite this world, it's possible the character could be revealed as being alive in the present day. Then again, it might be best for this franchise to move on from Steve.

Wonder Woman 3 doesn't have a release date and there's no news on when production will begin. Cameras were expected to start rolling after Jenkins has completed work on Rogue Squadron for Lucasfilm, but with that project in limbo, we could be waiting a long time to see more of the Amazon.
