TITANS Star Anna Diop Shares Which X-Men Team Member Would Be Her Dream Role

Anna Diop, who plays Starfire in DC's Titans, has opened up about which X-Men team member she would not only love to play in an X-Men reboot, but who she would like to direct!

Thanks to Disney's acquisition of FOX and Kevin Feige announcing that Mutants are coming to the cinematic universe, plus the fact that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is not only the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to mention "Mutants" by name, but to include the first self-proclaimed "mutant" on-screen, and speculation regarding an X-Men reboot is a hot topic!

While talking to SlashFilm during a recent interview promoting her new film Nanny, Anna Diop, who plays Starfire on DC's Titans, shared her thoughts regarding a particular member fo the team that she would love to play, as well as who she would like to direct the film!

Diop teamed up with writer-director Nikyatu Jusu while making Nanny, Jusu's feature film debut, and shared that the two really hit it off on the set of the film. So much so that the two are already thinking about their next collaboration:

"Me and Nikyatu keep threatening to make Storm together, which is also a superhero. But with her doing it, it would be so elevated and so mind-blowing. So that's something we chat about from time to time."

On the series Titans, which is available through HBO Max, Diop plays the dual role of Koriand'r and Starfire. In addition, she had a recurring role on the CW's supernatural mystery series The Messengers (2015) and the Fox thriller 24: Legacy (2017). On the big screen, she has starred in 2019's Us and this year's Nanny.

Diop was born in Senegal, and when she was six years old, her family relocated to the United States. At the age of 16 she moved to New York in order to pursue a career in acting and modeling.

She made her television debut in 2006, appearing in an episode of Everybody Hates Chris in a recurring role. In the years that followed, she appeared as a guest on the television shows Lincoln Heights, Whitney, and Touch. Diop appeared in the movie The Moment, which was released in 2013. In 2015, Diop debuted as Rose Arvale in the supernatural drama series The Messengers, which was cancelled after one season. Later that year she appeared in the suspense series Quantico and was given a recurring role in the drama series Greenleaf, which was produced by Oprah. In 2017 Diop had a recurring role in the television series 24: Legacy.

Diop's Starfire casting led to some controversy when it was initially announced in 2018 that she would be playing the extraterrestrial princess and heroine.

What do you think? Could you see Anna Diop as the X-Men's Ororo Monroe / Storm on the big screen? Make sure and share your thoughts in the comments section below!
