Xavier Will Continue To Work With The CIA In X-MEN: DOFP

The CIA played a pretty significant role in Mathew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class and it seems that they will be back in some form for Bryan Singer's follow up. Check out the latest image Tweeted by the director after the jump.

Rose Byrne may not be reprising her role as Moira McTaggart in X-Men: Days Of Future Past but if the following pic posted by Bryan Singer is anything to go by, some of her CIA pals will be back and Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) will be helping them better understand Mutants.

You'll also note the year on the thesis is 1973. X-Men: First Class was set in 1962 so this should give us an indication of how much time is supposed to have passed between movies. X-Men: Days Of Future Past stars Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Michael Fassbender, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing and Boo Boo Stewart, and will hit theaters July 18, 2014.

And Sif was Heimdall's sister, but not in Marvel Studios movie.
So what Moira was in CIA in 1963 and was Dr. 30+ years later, that's a lot of time when you can change your job.

Moira should be on this sequel!!

She's Charles love interest and she appeared on Days of future past comics, so really hope Singer gives us the surprise either this week or next one, with full cast revealed

What the feck? The CIA are useless. No clue about the Berlin Wall coming down. Useless at defending themselves and others in First Class. Forget about it Chuck. Fly solo.

There's an easy solution to the Moira problem.Just have CIA Moira be the mother
of the X3 DR.Moira.

Nothing in the X-Men comics spoke of Moira having a CIA background, so that can be giving to a "mom" character.

Mom got her mind wiped in 1963,went back to the CIA typing pool and later married
a Doctor, perhaps one of Biology, based off lingering memories of Charles.

Her Daughter came of age in the liberated 80's and chose her father's profession.

She runs into old Charles and looks so much like her mother Charles falls for her even if he feels guilty for what he did to her mother.

Just put a scene in X-Men DOFP where old Charles comes clean with Moira that he dated her mother back in the day.

Moira is not in DOFP.

There already seems like alot going on in DOFP, so not putting Moira in this one is a good idea. She's not needed. Please just stick to the story as much as possible Singer.

This is worsening the cluster-[frick]. Vaughn made First Class fit into a timeline which ignored Origins and X3 (hence different versions of Moira and Emma Frost, Charles being paralyzed and becoming frenemies with Erik before meeting Jean Grey and going bald, even the different designs for Beast).

Now Bryan Singer's come back, and he's bringing those movies back into the timeline with him, inconsistencies and all, and he's just using the DOFP story-line because it involves time-travel which he thinks he can use to fix the timeline in the same way JJ Abrams did with Star Trek, without thinking about the fact that the time-travel changes would have to have occurred before or during the events of X-Men First Class in order to make X3 and Origins fit.

@Newbus

I was suggesting a solution to a concern Remy was harping on as a deal breaker for his ability to like this movie.

That being the fact that two very different versions of Moira were depicted in XMFC and XMLS.

The two versions are not consistant age wise and Remy just couldn't get passed that.

I know Moira was not in the original story and the actress who played her in First Class was not invited back for DOFP.

That being said, since Charles Xavier "died" in XMLS,then "returned" in the body in Moiras lab during the post credits, the possibility is there that the 2000's version of Moira will ether appear in,or be spoken of, in DOFP, if only to provide exposition as to why the hell old Xavier is alive.

Singer has shown us a glimpse of a "modern" Xavier wheelchair and a "70's" version
so it looks like both versions of Charles will be in wheelchairs.

How do you square that with the fact that in XMLS,Xavier spoke of the body(possibly a twin brother) he would transfer his mind into as a heathy man born with out a mind?

If Singer ignores XMLS,how do you square that with The Wolverine, which according to Jackman,is a direct sequel to Last Stand and directly refers facts established on screen in X-Men origins Wolverine when it shows Logan with bone claws in 1945 Japan?

The Wolverine, according to Mark Millar, is FOX's "Ironman" and lead in to DOFP,Fantastic Four and the FOX Marvel cinematic universe so you can't blow it
off as a "one shot".

So great,I want Sentinels too.But I want some answers to prior conflicting X-Men films as well.

to some users, Moira APPEARED on the storyarc.

Thats why some fans want her back, not only because she's Charles love interest, but because she appeared on the two issues. And Rose is a great actress, so what more reasons do they need?

@gambgel

Just reread Uncanny X-Men 141 and 141.Your right Moira is in DOFP.

I guess my original post about having the 2000's Moira be the daughter of 60's Moira to explain why the XMLS version is only 40ish instead of 60ish if she was the XMFC version, has some purpose after all.

Like in First Class / X1 when Charles and Eric did not meet when they were 17 they'll probably ignore / not reference certain parts of the previous Xmen films when it suits them - the obvious one being Moira. If we use you're argument then in DOFP and in 1973 there has to two Moira MacTaggarts - the CIA one and her daughter. Now Xavier being a telepath, there is no way he cannot know his close CIA friend Moira has a daughter called Moira.

It's clear to me that a direct sequel to First Class was on Fox's table then something happened and this direct sequel has morphed into DOFP (in name only) along with a change of director.

Moira is max. 25 in First Class. Looks like her first job, her boss said she doesn't fit there at the end of movie.
And in X3 she's about 55, so it's she 30 years later. Olivia is younger, but looks older tha she is naturally.
