A JUSTICE LEAGUE Vs. X-MEN Movie? It Might Happen Sooner Than You Think...
The Rupert Murdoch owned 21st Century Fox tried and failed today to buy Time Warner for $80 billion. That would put them in control of everything from HBO to Warner Bros. and DC Comics, so perhaps a movie featuring Superman AND Wolverine is now a possibility, especially as they plan on trying again...
21st Century Fox were unsuccessful in their bid to purchase Time Warner for $80 billion today, meaning that for now, they won't be adding CNN, HBO, Warner Bros. and DC Comics to their portfolio of companies which currently includes Fox News, 20th Century Fox and many others. However, despite the fact that their offer of $85 a share was rejected, they do plan on trying again, and if successful...well, Hollywood could be about to change (for example, CNN would have to be sold due to competition laws). Now, taking over a company like Time Warner would obviously be a huge transition, and as with Disney's acquisition of Marvel and Lucasfilm - which are positively tiny in comparison - it doesn't mean that things would suddenly drastically change.
Let's assume for a moment that 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros. are merged into a new movie studio though. If 21st Century Fox held the rights to both a handful of Marvel characters and all of DC's, could they be featured in the same film? There could be a myriad of issues which stop this from ever happening, but if Disney were to buy DC Comics for example, is it so hard to believe that the comic universes would be combined and that we'd see the Avengers and Justice League in the same movie? Well, no! There could of course be other legal issues here which would stop this from happening, but stay tuned, as we may be bringing you news of a Justice League Vs. X-Men movie at some point in the distant future...just don't hold your breath! What do you think?
