Adan Canto (Seemingly) Confirms Sunspot Role In X-MEN: DOFP

Mexican actor Adan Canto, who’s best known for his role on Fox’s The Following, took to Twitter a while ago to announce that he’s joining the ensemble cast of Bryan Singer's X-men: Days Of Future Past. “Thrilled to be X-Men,” Canto tweeted at the time, and added: “I might turn into a ball of fire if someone pisses me off.” This led fans to believe that he'd either be original New Mutant member Sunspot, or original X-Man Sunfire. Well, it would appear we have confirmation. In response to a tweet from a fan saying "I'm excited for @adancanto as Sunspot!!", Canto replied: "Thanks! Next summer." Then deleted the Tweet. Nothing DEFINITE, but I'd be very surprised if Canto wasn't playing Roberto da Costa aka Sunspot in the movie.

There's so many complaints on these boards regularly about too many characters being in the movie.

But this is X-MEN, most of the X-Men comics feature A LOT of characters.

Actually the one on the far right is Sunfire, not Sunspot. Completely different character.

Remember how everyone was raving how GREAT Man of Steel was gonna be, when it turned out to be pretty BAD? I see the opposite happening here. Everyone expects this movie to be BAD, but who knows, it could very well turn out good. After all, Bryan Singer was the one who gave us the first two awesome X-Men movies. Not perfect, but still good.

@englandlover77 Exactly. I guarantee this movie will be miles ahead of Man of Shits. You watch.

Bryan Singer also gave us Jack the Giant Slayer.

@Levitikuz So? filmmakers make mistakes. Danny Boyle made the awesome films 28 Days Later, Slumdog Millionare, 127 Hours, and Trainspotting, but also made the terrible movie Trance. No one's perfect.

Would rather have Gambit.

Singer also gave us Superman Returns.

Also you can tell Man of Steel is a great film when people can't stop talking about it and bring it up in articles that have nothing to do with it.

@LEVITIKUZ Don't forget Singer gave us the wrongfully bashed and horribly underrated Superman Returns. Singer is a master filmmaker.

Oh, I'm sorry. Not enough explosions and Superman killing. I forgot. My bad. That's what makes a "good" Superman movie nowadays.

The fact that people keep bringing up Man of Steel is actually really annoying...and doesn't mean the movie's good. People are just posting anything and everything about that movie.

You're saying there is too much mutants and at once why there isn't Beast (Kelsey) and Nightcrawler. Idiots, idiots everywhere...

And Superman Returns is a good movie, people bash it cuz they are blind fanboys.

Another thing. Filmmakers tend to take risks and experiment. Remember when Gus Van Sant remade Psyhco shot for shot? And the result wasn't good? That doesn't mean he's a lousy filmmaker, he just wanted to see what the result would be. I believe he even admitted it wasn;t good, but at least he took the risk and now we know for sure that that technique isn't a good idea.
The same thing kind of happened with Singer with Superman Returns. He took a risk by continuing the Donner films. That wasn't the one and only downfall of the film, but it didn't connect with the audience.
To be honest, I don't think Superman is cut out for films. He works well in cartoons and tv series, but movies I'm not too sure about.

Man of steel was a really good movie. And people bash superman returns because 1. Superman doesn't throw a punch the entire movie 2. Superman would never have a child outside of marriage 3. Kryptonian continent? Lol. And none of this has to do with the fact that Bryan singer makes good xmen movies and this one will be no different I for one am very excited to get back to the tone of the first two movies.

Shared Foxverse with all the X teams would be pretty sweet. Pfft! Never gonna happen bog the movie down see what characters stand out to audiences then screw em over by giving them a movie that totaly contradicts the charcters. I've figured out Fox's plans!

Im intrigued with the whole look and powers display of the new mutants.

Just to see Bisho, Warpath, Blink and Sunspot fighting the sentinels... oh man, it will be pretty epic.

Why would I think he would be playing Sun fire ? Is Sun fire no longer Japanese ?
This will be the seventh mutant fox film...if this one misses the mark yet again then I hope they just stop trying and reboot it in five years.

I was so excited when I heard that they were doing the Days of Future Past storyline. NOw, not so much. This movie has so many unnecessary characters.
