The X-Men will soon return home, but before we get to see Marvel Studios' take on the popular mutant heroes, 20th Century Fox will be hoping to give the current iteration of the team a worthy sendoff with Dark Phoenix.

Following the positive response to the recent CinemaCon presentation and a new TV spot, the studio has debuted an international teaser promo which sees Sophie Turner's Jean Grey undergoing her transformation into one of the most powerful entities in the universe, the Dark Phoenix. We also have a new poster which gives us a close-up look at the fiery energy manifesting in Jean's eye.

Check out both below, and let us know what you think in the comments. Are you looking forward to Dark Phoenix?

In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

Also Starring James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters and Jessica Chastain, the film is set to be released on June 7 in the UK (as X-Men: Dark Phoenix) and the U.S.

I'm so curious about Dark Phoenix and am glad they're keeping it mysterious. Fingers crossed that they head into deep space at the end. It would explain where they all disappeared to in the Gifted, Legion, New Mutants, and Deadpool. Plus faster than light travel is an easy way to bring them from the 80s to present day and fudge Magneto's age.

I love that a romance between Charles and Erik would feel more natural and interesting than what we have between this version of Jean and Scott.

Is that not.. surely.. is this supposed to be referencing the black-hole picture? If so, that's really cool. If not, meh, it's whatever.
