Fan-Art Gives Us An Idea How Janelle Monáe Could Look As Storm In MCU X-MEN Reboot

Yesterday, we learned that singer/songwriter/actress Janelle Monáe has set her sights set on playing X-Men's Storm in the MCU, and now some fan-art gives us an idea of how she might look at the character.

During a recent interview, singer/actress Janelle Monáe mentioned that she'd love to play Storm in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and now some new artwork from Boss Logic gives us some idea of how the Antebellum star might look as the X-Men's resident weather witch.

As you can see, BL has gone with Ororo's most recognizable look from her early Uncanny X-Men days. Both Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp did sport variations of the Mohawk for their interpretations of Storm, but we've yet to see a fully comic-accurate take on the character's classic costume.

“I definitely have thrown it out there,” Monáe told Empire when asked if she'd spoken to anyone about suiting up as Storm. “One of my dreams has always been to play Storm. I don’t know if she comes in Black Panther, but it would be a dream to have her in it. I don’t know where they are with that. A lot of women have played Storm and they’ve done an exceptional job, and I would love to be in that line of artists and get to do Storm justice."

Monáe actually discussed a potential role in Black Panther 2 with director Ryan Coogler, and even though it seems unlikely that the sequel would introduce Storm to The MCU, if might work if Marvel was planning to give the mutant heroes individual debuts before bringing them together for an X-Men movie.

Do you think Monáe would make a good Storm? Let us know in the comments.

Do yourselves a favour and listen to Janelle by Cold Chisel. Such a good Aussie blues song.

Then listen to Bow River and get your mind blown.

I saw Moonlight for the first time a couple weeks ago, and she was a stand out to me. I really liked her character.

Never actually read an X men comic, so going off what I know, and how I see people saying she's not a good choice...i say hell yeah give her the role!

I'll say it again- HECK NO for Storm. Perfection for Monet St. Croix aka "M". She has a standoff nature that would suit the Generation X lead. Penny. Penny.

@jadelovexo - ah c’mon.

Keke is 5’6, Monae is 5’0.

Keke is 26, Monae is 34 (if Feige takes five years (a minimum to erase the bitter taste of Foxmen), Monae will be biting at 40.

Keke can act (see ‘Pimp’), Monae (eh....)

To me Keke has a pretty compelling look (though I will readily agree that Jodie-Turner Smith is a visual home run), Monae.....not so much.

But, it’s cool.....to each his own.

I think a way to tie Storm and Black Panther in a organic way would be if the villian is Egyptian like the Shadow King or the Living Monolith, they could even trow Moon Knight there for a team up 👌

@NathanielX - I'm fine with Storm and Black Panther being somehow friends/comrades currently, but not married - we don't need that kind of racism. And they don't need to have grown up together. Africa is a HUGE place (3 US' could fit inside it with room to spare)- not everyone needs to know each other and have grown up with each other there.

@thepowerofseven - It's like the old Marvel thing of everything happening in New York and it's crickets everywhere else. Part of opening up and being more inclusive in this new world is also being geographically conscious.

@thepowerofseven - Don't really understand what you mean by racism, i don't think that applies in the context using. Storm did meet T'Challa when they were 12 in Kenya when she saved him from some racists tho, which started their relationship. That was established in 1980.

@thepowerofseven - I was going more by the reasoning of a James Bond esque adventure where TChalla is on Cairo exploring the Panther God side of his lore and on a missuo to rescue a Kenyan Princess.

Jesus Christ, I hope they don't do the Storm/Black Panther thing. Haven't we had enough [frick]ed up racism in the past few years?

NO NO NO NO. They should NOT cast Janelle Monae. They need to cast an actual AFRICAN actress. Hopefully an unknown.

I absolutely adore Janelle Monae. But she is just too short for this role. I vote for Jodie Turner Smith. Watching Queen and Slim convinced me that she should get first consideration for this part.
