Taylor Kitsch Has No Hard Feelings Towards Channing Tatum Over GAMBIT

While Ryan Reynolds has been given the chance to redeem Deadpool after the disappointment of X-Men Origins, Taylor Kitsch hasn't been so lucky with Gambit.

It's no secret X-Men Origins: Wolverine disappointed many X-Men fans. The movie crammed in a number of characters into its convoluted story, and has since become infamous for the way it handled fan-favorites such as 'Deadpool' & 'Gambit'. 2016 looks to be the year that will set the wrongs of Origins right, with both characters receiving spin-off movies. But while Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as the Merc With A Mouth, Taylor Kitsch will not follow suit with Gambit.

The role has since been passed to Channing Tatum (a personal favorite of longtime X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner). While talking to The Daily Beast, Kitsch was asked about whether he had a chance at reprising the role before Tatum's casting. While the True Detective star confessed he hadn't been approached, he did graciously wish his successor all the best for the future.

"Um…no, I didn’t have a go. Ever since we finished the movie, it’s never really been an option. But no, I wish [Channing] nothing but the best. It was a fun character to play, and I learned a lot working with Hugh [Jackman] and had an amazing time in Australia. I’m sure they’re doing their own thing with it, and I’m sure Channing will be great."

What do you think about Kitsch's comments. Do you think Fox made the right move in replacing him with Tatum, or do you feel he was a good fit as Remy LeBeau? As always, be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments section below!

Gambit will hit theatres October 7, 2016.

Well that's good of him Taylor was a good Gambit despite that movie being total crap. He got [frick]ed over with a lot of movies he did. But hey at least he's got true detective now.

I think Taylor should've gotten a real chance to play Gambit…. But at least he's respectful… Hate Fox not Tatum…

He would've been a good choice for a solo film.
I'm sure he'll have another shot at a CBM eventually.

Anyway, Anna Paquin recently followed Channing Tatum and his wife on Twitter... Hmmm...
Fingers crossed.

I would have liked Kitsch getting another shot. He was good with what they gave him.

I am in no way sold on Tatum playing Remy, but having Rupert Wyatt on board eases my worries significantly. He brought the amazing Rise of the Planet of the Apes together, I think we're in good hands.

It would be funny if he becomes Nightwing. Daredevil was Ben's audition and Gambit could be his. I personally think he's a good actor and it is sad many of the films he has been in failed. John Carter was a good pulp fiction film and it failed, because Bob was pushing out the last remnant from the Michael Eisner days and helped him fire Rich Ross. So you really can't fault him for the movie failing.

BTW, was John Carter such a failure it didn't deserve a sequel?

I enjoy that movie…

@slickrickdesigns

If you want a good read I'd pick up John Carter and the Gods of Hollywood. It goes into the whole deal with how Disney made sure John Carter fail. Plus it deals with how long it took to finally make a Princess of Mars film at all. It even talks about how the property went to different companies over the years and each one after the next just held onto the rights.

In the end John Carter made a profit, but nothing that would allow for a sequel. Plus you have to remember around this time Bob Iger was getting into talks with George Lucas and why support two space franchises, when you only need one.

Taylor is a superior actor than Channing who's really just a model/dancer pretending to act.
Given a good script, cast & team of filmmakers,Taylor would easily be a much better Gambit.

I hope that he gets more opportunities to showcase his talent. He's good in all his TV/Film roles despite the quality.
As for Tatum..he better give Gambit all he's got & we pray the director can make him look like he's portraying the character right.
That clown needs all the help he can get.
