Jennifer Lawrence Briefly Touches On An X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Sequel

The gorgeous Jennifer Lawrence is making all the media rounds for Hunger Games but of course she's peppered with a sprinkling of X-Men: First Class queries.

Speaking to HitFix about Hunger Games, the conversation briefly touched on her return to the world of X-Men. Nothing too surprising here, basically Lawerence stated that if she doesn't know a whole lot at this point but if she's written into the script then she'll definitely return.

"I don't know, I mean...if they write me in, then I'm in," Lawrence said at the "Hunger Games" roundtable discussion, "But I don't even know if there'll be...I've only heard what everybody else has heard, just whispers. I haven't heard the official word yet."

"It's a cool thing," Lawrence said of her "First Class" experience. "It wasn't until later, [that I thought]..."I'm Mystique. That's a cool...she's kind of like a historic superhero, and that's really important to a lot of people, and these comics have been around for so long. It was a cool thing to be a part of."

X-Men

X-Men: First Class is a 2011 American superhero film directed by Matthew Vaughn and produced by Bryan Singer, based on the X-Men characters appearing in Marvel Comics. The fifth installment in the X-Men series, the film acts as a prequel for the X-Men trilogy, being set primarily in 1962 during the Cuban Missile Crisis. It focuses on the relationship between Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr (Magneto), and the origin of their groups—the X-Men and the Brotherhood of Mutants, respectively. The film stars James McAvoy as Xavier and Michael Fassbender as Lensherr. Other cast members include Kevin Bacon, January Jones, Rose Byrne, Jennifer Lawrence, Zoë Kravitz, Nicholas Hoult and Lucas Till.

Announced in 2006, First Class entered production in August 2010 and finished in December, with additional photography taking up up to three weeks before the film's premiere in June 2011. Locations included Oxford, the Mojave desert and Georgia, with soundstage work in both Pinewood Studios and the 20th Century Fox stages in Los Angeles. The film received positive reviews and was a box-office success with earnings of $353 million worldwide.

She made Mystique a 100% sympathic character and gave her a lot of life. The established relationship with Magneto, the breakdown of the relationship with Xavier, that worthless furball who needed to be tossed into a giant blender and ripped to shreds for being a dickhole to the kitty race Beast.

She was perfect, don't see why they would just leave her out now.

"she's kind of like a historic superhero" I hate to be that guy, but since when was Mystique a superhero. All I'm saying is know what your talking about.

Jennifer Lawrence was amazing in this movie. It was nice how we could follow her journey throughout the film. She breathed life into Mystique and I loved her.

It's interesting to see how a shy, sincere girl; ashamed of her mutant abilities can turn out to be a cold-hearted assassin and loyal to Magneto. I liked that part of the movie.

I hope their is a sequel. J-Law looked stunning in the blue ,, I just hope they work more on the colouring to look more like Romijn's Mystique.

She was probably the only consistent actor, Fassbender is always amazing, but he did have a dodgy accent towards the end of the film.

I'm so shocked at people hating on her. She's an incredible actress, watch 'Winter's Bone' - where she was nominated for an Academy Award I might add - and then get back to me. She deserved that award more than Portman.

And she is so beautiful, it's unreal.

January Jones took me right out of it.... to a greater extent than Lawrence's cheeks.

@MovieTheaterLad

Totally! Mystique was a character that had grown much more than any of the others. Xavier and Magneto were pretty much the same all the way through.

Cherry, you have 100% right and I like your opinion. I have seen the movie but I dont know so much about the comic version of mystique. It seems that jennifers performance as raven isnt the same as the comics, right?

While Rebeccas version of her seems very (very) different, Im not even sure how her real personality (mystique) is exactly anymore. In this version she is so cool and in mr. Singers version she is a killing machine :/

Anyways, I agree with you and I hope she returns in the sequel :)

@JillValenfield It seems like you're talking more about the script and material rather than the acting. Jennifer can't help that they wrote Mystique differently in First Class than in the original X Trilogy.

It's more down to the Direction she was given, Jane Goldman wrote Mystique to be very different and more kind of, emotional than Romijn's version who hardly said any lines. :/

@VandalSavage I don't think he is! but if he was straight, then he'd be winning. A girl loves it when a guy agree's with everything she says ... take notes! ;)

@teabag ;) even without a penis, mine is still bigger than yours. :P

All of the X-men movies have felt like watered down versions of the characters. The first two films as well as FC were decent enough but they were not good X-men films in my opinion. Cyclops was never really portrayed as much of a leader. Rogue was portrayed as an emo who never really contributed much of anything to the action. Iceman was a teen and so on and so forth. X franchise is epic and should be done as such. It's unfortunate that Marvel will never get the rights back to the franchise as Fox will continuously spew out these films to keep the franchise firmly in their camp.

I didn't find her performance to be all that moving, but to each their own. And on that note, I know beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but gorgeous? She's okay, but not what I would call gorgeous. Different strokes...

I think they set her up quite well to turn into the cold hearted, human hating, Magneto aligned assassin of her adult years. The sequel should be grand!

she definetly doesnt seem as excited for the sequel, but she has a deal with Fox, so she will be back.

Im not worried about the cast returning. I only care for the quality of the movie, the script and bigger actions scenes.

and Im sure Matthew and Singer will suprise many viewers with the sequel.

To be honest, when she was cast as Mystique, I wasn't too thrilled. Well, I would probably have the same reaction with any actress replacing Rebecca Romijn.

I thought Jennifer Lawrence did a great job as Mystique. First Class is my favorite X-Men movie so far, which is mainly due to the great performances. Unfortunately, I couldn't say the same for January Jones as Emma Frost. She was very underwhelming.

And I thought the Rebecca Romijn cameo was a nice touch.

@teabag Good God, man! You need to wax that or something. ;P

As long as you don't care about the X-men, character development, a good script, likeable characters or get bored easily... The movie was just fine.
