Marvel Might Be Working On A WOLVERINE Animated Series

The rumours that Marvel are turning their backs on the Fantastic Four and X-Men aren't dying away, but an interesting new Wolverine logo at a Disney Licensing Expo may provide some hope for the mutants. Hit the jump to check it out!

We've heard the rumours that Marvel are supposedly shutting out properties that are in the hands of 20th Century Fox in comics, toys and more, but most of the attention on that rumour has gone towards the Fantastic Four. Well, Marvel aren't exactly doing much promotion of the X-Men outside of comic books, either, as displayed on their 75th Anniversary poster and this new piece of artwork at a Disney Licensing Expo today. The publisher hasn't confirmed that they are in fact "shutting out" Fox properties, and it's unlikely they ever will, but something interesting appeared at the Expo that's well worth a look.

Bleeding Cool snapped this image of Marvel's recent/upcoming cinematic and television items, featuring films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recent childrens cartoons and... Marvel Wolverine. Placing the title with these others suggests it is an unannounced animated project, as Disney are highly unlikely to suddenly have movie rights to the most famous X-Man. So is the official reveal of a Wolverine cartoon on the way? It certainly looks that way... what are your thoughts?

Would be cool if they really are doing a Woverine cartoon but it can't be too kid friendly like ultimate spiderman, hulk agents of smash, or Avengers Assemble.

It would have to be more in tone with the old school 90s X-men or 90s Batman

Marvel supported and promoted TASM2 like crazy. Toys, videogames, costumes, lunch boxes, trailer after trailer. They must have a better relationship with Sony than Fox.

Does anyone (who doesn't want any excuse to bash Marvel) really believe those rumors?
They are so stupid

@JoJo

Did they cancel because the ratings wasn't good enough?

The logo is similar to Wolverine and the X-Men, maybe we can still hope for second season.

Nah it was financial issues with their partners

Can we get a serious Wolverine animated series without X-Men or The Avengers, please? Don't even use regular X-Men baddies as villains. Just use Wolverine related villains like Sabretooth, William Stryker, Silver Samurai, Deadpool, Domino, Elektra, The Hand, John Garret (who's associated with Elektra), ETC. Make it a straight up Wolverine show. I know it's never going to happen but a guy can hope.

Ideally (in my mind anyway) the next X-men cartoon would be the animated equivalent to All New X-men (without the Bendis and the time travel nonsense). A fresh vehicle that goes back to the beginning and introduces a new generation to these characters and show 'em why they've been around so long. It'd take cues from Teen Titans and A:EMH that had major arcs and seasons dedicated to building up each character. When these everyone finally comes together there should be a real sense of belonging, emotional pay-off, and family.

But looking at the current state of their animation department I wouldn't be surprised if they actually thought another Wolverine show featuring the other X-men is what this franchise needs.

It'll probably be just as cheesy and humorous as Ultimate Spider-Man and Avengers Assembled.
DeusExSponge

I hope it's a continuation of Wolverine and the X-Men, but at this point I don't really expect Marvel CB cartoons to be any good. Darn shame!

Maybe they can make this a type of sequel to Wolverine and the X-Men?

B cool either way.
