Nicholas Hoult Talks X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

The first we've heard from the ‘Beast’ actor about reprising his First Class role in X-Men: Days of Future Past, Nicholas Hoult says he's excited to reunite with director Bryan Singer. Check it out!

Amid the press junket for his romantic zombie comedy Warm Bodies, Nicholas Hoult was queried about returning as Hank McCoy/Beast from X-Men: First Class in the Days of Future Past sequel. Refraining from divulging story details, via ScreenCrave, the English actor says he is anticipating being reunited with his Jack the Giant Slayer director, Bryan Singer, for the Marvel adaptation.

“We’ve gotten along really well,” Hoult said of director Bryan Singer, who served as a producer on First Class. “He’s fantastic on the X-Men films. He really knows what’s going on. And from what I’ve heard about the script, I think it’s going to be a really cool film. I’m looking forward to it. I like that character as well. I don’t think we start for another few months.”

Given that some actors from the X-Men trilogy are returning, it's worth noting that Kelsey Grammer portrayed the big blue furball in X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). However, there's no word on whether the modern-day iteration of Hank McCoy will take part in Days of Future Past, or if Grammer will return as well.

X-Men: Days of Future Past stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Jason Flemyng with Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart. And as aforementioned, more actors from the X-Men trilogy are expected to make an appearance in the upcoming mutant ensemble sequel. Reportedly starting principal photography in Spring, Bryan Singer directs Fox's X-Men: Days of Future Past time travel adaptation into theaters on July, 18 2014 in 2D/3D!

I hope kelsie grammer is in back as beast that was perfect casting in my opinion. Wonder where this movie falls in the x-men movie timeline before or after The Last Stand.

It would be cool if Kelsey Grammer did make a cameo, but I doubt it will happen.

Supposedly afterwards. Like "The Wolverine". Like WHYYYY??? I love how they take Classic set-ups and take their own routes to the chronological order. It feels like Fox has Marvel Mutant history in a snow globe, and they hand it over to a 3yr old and take notes from the aftermath. Here's hoping they do better. (With no belief that they actually will...)

Thanks. I think it's controlled flaws. DC has EVERY character under one (WB) umbrella, yet they refuse to make team films. MARVEL is chopped into 3 factions and they only get it right under the MARVEL ONLY banner. FF without Spider-Man. Hulk without Wolverine. Avengers without a chance of having Beast, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, etc. I think the best case scenario here is for Fox to gain access to all of the ultimate characters, and give the characters of the 616 back to MARVEL. Spider-Man gets a ten year extension with Sony, but is accessible by both Fox and Marvel for negotiable cameos, scenes. Win/Win/Win. What's the alternative? They turn Spider-Man into Doctor Octopus so Peter won't be the character??? That'd be ridiculou- oh wait...

I liked Kelsey Grammer as Beast more, but I still thought Nicholas Hoult did a good job.

@jimpinto That would be a nice touch. I wouldn't be surprised if some secret cameo appearances are slipped in DOFP.

I liked him as Hank... But his voice after he transformed into Beast just seemed a little off to me

@tripttwe Marvel can actually use Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, they just can't mention their relation to Magneto or the X-Men etc.

I wish they just left First Class in it's own separate universe. The Fox X-Men Universe is now just ridiculously complex. Plus, there are characters used in the original trilogy I'd love to see reworked properly. Kitty, Iceman, Colossus etc.

I don't know why you guys are getting so up in arms just because it's Fox. Jeez, let go of Kevin Feige's balls, will ya?

Anyway, seeing Kelsey Grammar and Nicholas on screen together would be awesome.

There's plenty of mutants from the original trilogy that need a second shot at being adapted,

I hope they give us more faithful versions of Rogue, Storm, Psylocke, Colossus and others in future movies

he was crap as the beast the make up was terrible in the first scene we see him all blue & furry, matter of fact charles & erik were the only two good performances in first class.

thank f*ck this one has got the original cast members returning & hopefully 25 foot sentinels.

@ Taobogon- I agree about better versions (I'm calling Stephen Graham for Wolverine) of the original characters- especially Cyclops. I'd also like to see Kelsey reprise the role. I can remember him being a top candidate for Beast waaay back in the Wizard Magazine casting call! It's one of the very few things that Fox got right! ... For the Stop sign above me, I can only say that I am up in arms because Fox felt like it was okay to take too many inaccurate things about characters that I've loved for decades now and make them very watered-down versions of themselves. It has nothing to do with another Man's scrotum....

He was a great Beast!

I can see him merging into Kelsey not in looks but personality as a more mature Hank

I liked him up until the transformation. Than it got cheesy. It looked like a bad early nineties live action ninja turtles or power rangers villain

I liked X-Men: FC but not as much as people on this site put it at or make it out to be. One user on here talk about it's just as good as Iron Man...O_o. It's not even on Batman Begins level. Still I like it.

I'm with @marvel72 I want the tall Sentinels but FOX might start off how they first appeared and then get bigger near the end of the movie. Who knows.

I doubt the old cast will actually be meeting the young cast in Singer's DOFP movie. My feeling is that there will be scenes that take place in the future and scenes that take place in the past and one character(probably friggen Wolverine) will go back to the past to do whatever. I don't think it needs to be future Kitty Pride that goes back per say. I'd be happy if they used Bishop or Cable (yes I know they're from different time periods. It's FOX, what does that matter).

I like the idea of using DOFP to make a solid timeline/correct mistakes in all the other movies.

Though I like both actors neither were perfect in the role. Grammer sure looked the part but he was far too serious while Hoult facially was spot on but was far too tall, skinny and geeky. Hank McCoy was a genius, but likeable, charismatic and a high school athletic super star. And he was the quarterback of the school football team. Hoult's awkward geeky portayal just isn't right.

I actually didn't mind Hoults portrayal as Hank, although I wish they didn't need to rush or improve Hanks look in his blue furry form

Neither actor was a pitch-perfect Beast but, I thought Grammer did really well and Holt didn't do too bad of a job either. Magneto and Beast were the only well portrayed X-Men in X3.

I'd love to see Sinister & Apocalypse on the big screen. If they can get Looper right (which they did), I know this can be done. RIGHT. I wanna see a MARVEL where Forge and Stark sit around a table and discuss Quantum Physics. That would be dope...
