Patrick Stewart Wants To Make More X Men Movies

Apparently the man who portrayed Charles Xavier looks forward to reprising the role. He also speaks about his role in the Star Trek movie franchise...

At a Dragon Con(thanks Betty) in Atlanta on Saturday, Patrick Stewart answered questions on whether we would be seeing him in future X movies, or maybe in the reinvented Star Trek movie series.

As we know, Stewart recently appeared as a younger Xavier in X Men Origins : Wolverine but he seems to be interested in appearing in future mutant centric movies in the future. While working on an adaptation of Waiting For Godot with Ian McKellen, he says the two of them agreed that they would love to further explore the relationship between Magneto and Xavier.

Asked about Star Trek he said he thought the new movie was "terrific", but that he did not see a large role for Jean Luc-Picard to play in the movies rebooted timeline. He did say he would do a cameo in a future movie.

Thanks to Worstpreviews for the info.

I find it extremely cool that he would enjoy this role as much as he seems to. He is a Shakespearian actor ,and he has no shortage of roles. For him to take as much of an interest in the role really gives the comic book movie concept more weight and credibility in my opinion.

Bring on X-4, and for Christ sake get a good writer, good directer, and bring on Bolivar Trask and the Sentinels. Perfect time to make the gov.t the new enemy focus, and get Michael Clarke Duncan to play Apocalypse

I would love an X4 w/Stewart. They could come up with some BS mutant or convenient plot line to resurrect him. They do it all the time in the comics. When I was a kid I wrote him requesting an autograph when they started Next Gen. He was the only one to actually write a personalized letter and sign it along with a picture. Very nice actor and loves his fans.

Xavier was alive at the end of X-3, look for the scene after the credits. He transported his conscience into the body of his twin brother who was the man in the hospital shown earlier in the movie

LOL, apparently they are starting to make the x-men movies storylines just as complicated as the x-men comics were in the late 80s and 90s. You had to keep a handful of notebooks to keep track of everything that had happened and even then most of it didn't make sense. I can just picture the regular movie goer... X-men 4: Rise of Apocalypse (or whatever surname they decide to give it), mmm sounds cool last movie sucked but this one might be good, nice effects mm, I wonder who'll be in it..wait a minute... WHY THE HELL IS THERE A PROFESSOR XAVIER AGAIN, WASN'T HE KILLED LAST TIME? the studio would respond NO YOU ASSWIPE, YOU HAD TO WATCH THE 2 MINUTES AFTER THE END CREDITS OF THE LAST ONE TO UNDERSTAND THIS MOVIE.

Anyway if they do X4... Jean Grey is dead, Mystique is powerless, Cyclops (apparently dead), Magneto powerless, I know there are many more x-men but... I really see a horrible situation in which the writters have to start jumping through hoops to make it believable for the characters to come back (they find a coccon under the lake of X-2 in which the real Jean is hidden, Xavier transfers his conciousness to another body, the "cure" wasn't permanent, etc, etc.)I don't know...maybe reboot? or just reboot x-3?
InTylerWeTrust
InTylerWeTrust - 9/7/2009, 9:41 PM
Yeah, they f*cked themselves sideways twice in the a$$ with X3. Too many continuity constraints.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 9/7/2009, 10:05 PM
Well, we already know the cure is not permanent because we see Magneto move the chess piece at the end of X3..so that would also apply to Mystique. The deaths are an easy fix. Noobmike you said yourself the comics have gone through such insane leaps of logic and outright silliness at times, why cant the movies follow suit? All the have to do to explain Xavier and Cycs death is say that Jean doesn't kill them when she does that vaporising thing, but instead transports their bodies to another dimension or something. Maybe the Shadow Kings realm! I dunno, there are lots of ways to get them back. Jean? Man she has dies so many times in the comics its actually laughable. Hell even leave her out of the next one if it would be over kill to bring her back too..have Scott be all "I know shes still out there somewhere" like his bitch ass likes to whine about in the cartoons.

Basically there is nothing that can't be fixed from X3 at all with a little imagination.
NoobMike
NoobMike - 9/7/2009, 10:25 PM
I know that Ror, the problem... and we have seen it happen all to often, is when that imagination starts jumping form person to person (or even worse from team of writters to team of writters) many times both Marvel and DC, hell even Wildstorm had to make wiping storylines, in which they simply wiped most of the inconsistencies they had, crisis on infinite earths, zero hour, Onslaught, and many more, were storylines that tried to reboot everything. The problem is that making and distributing a comic is a whole lot cheaper than making a movie so studios will probably be wearier of the wiping events, add the fact that this is Fox... and well....

I know that I'd go see X-4 in a heart beat, but you can't deny that most of the explanations and imagination needed would put off most of the regular audiences. Although Star Trek did manage to make a wiping event and be a cool movie, so what the hell do I know, but you guys know me I prefer to be weary and pleasantly surprised than be extremely optimistic just to end up deflated.
