POLL: What Did You Think Of X-Men: First Class?

POLL: What Did You Think Of X-Men: First Class?

Matthew Vaughn's X-Men prequel has been running for over a week now and has been a big topic of discussion here on CBM. Now that most of you will have gone to check it out, what was you're verdict?

Feature Opinion

Pretty much positive reviews across the board, a solid 54 Million opening weekend and a worldwide total of over $220 Million so far, and perhaps most importantly, very well received by the majority of fans. But some felt that the movie took too many liberties with the source material. Some that it was too cheesy, and some just hated the hell out of it for whatever reason! One way or another, now that we have all had a bit more time to digest X-Men: First Class and maybe catch it a second(or third) time, what's the final verdict?

I have seen the movie twice now and possibly enjoyed it even more the second time. I stand by my initial take(check out my review HERE), but what about you?

It was great but by no means 'One of the best CBM's we have had'. For it to be the best, it should of had the original 5 members.

Maybe not faithful to the source material but a really entertaining movie

I thought it was one of the best CBM's I've seen. Micheal Fassbender & James McAvoy were brilliant in this film. Every scene with Magneto was the best. Two that stuck with me most was The Argentina bar scene, and when he's ripping through the submarine. Fassbender IS Magneto. Much like Hemsworth is Thor, and RDJ is Iron Man & so on.

9/10 for me.

Well, you have to take it for what it was imo. It could have had the original 5 and sucked! Bottom line is it was a very well acted, directed flick and damn exciting too.

early results are showing this movie was 'Amazing, one of the best.." Wow. I did not think this was a good movie or CBM. Although I need to see it again, because maybe I am being too hard on it...

For those of you complaining about the movie not using the original 5 as the fist class, check out my article about why they could not use the orignal first class:

I forgot to add that I think this is the best X-Men movie to date. I watched X-2 before and after I saw FC. First Class easily the best film IMO.

Micheal Fassbender and James Mcavoy were great as Erik and Charles but rest of the cast were mediocre expect for Jennifer Jones she was awful as Emma Frost. Kevin Becons Sebastian Shaw character was nothing like in the comic books hes basically a "Proto Magneto" in the movie and in the opening scene I thought he was Mr Sinister.

The Movie has some great action and effects but Beasts makeup or costume looked like it came from Sesame Street.

X-men first class and X2 are the best x-movies to date.

I don't think theirs going to be a sequel to first class because the movie isn't doing well at the boxoffice.

This movie was really good, no campy dialogue or silly customes although the yellow customes fitted right with the 60's theme, overall is well acted, directed, good fun entertainment.
I was glad to see MAGNETO in a major role, not just as a background character.

Was it better than X3 and Wolverine? Definately.

Was it better than X2? No.

Was it better than the first X-men? Yes.

This movie met my expectations. McAvoy and Fassbender were excellent in their roles. Kevin Bacon was, well Kevin Bacon. Loved the 'go [frick] yourself' line from Wolverine. I loved how the truth of Charles being paralyzed was revealed. I think though, however that the reason why its lagging behind in the box office race within the franchise is that the mainstream audience is growing tired of X-men movies. Yes, the Comic book world will scream for a sequel with Vaughn as the director, but the mainstream audience might groan.

Excellent movie, made me ask, "X3 and Wolverine who?"

I've finally seen it a couple of days ago...it was pretty awesome, well acted, good story, good pacing, great score, great effects (some cheesy ones here and there but not too important).some characters were unnecessary thou (Angel,Riptide and Darwin specifically),but overall, solid film.

If you ask me, from a story standpoint, it's by far the best CBM that's been made so far. Whether it's true to the comics or not is irrelevant since comics constantly retell origin stories and change continuity every day. It's defiantly up there with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight as far as being a great film. We should all be hoping they follow this up sooner rather than later. As long as the teams of Vaughn/Singer and Fassbender/McAvoy are back e'll have a lot to look forward to. Plusd now that the origin story is out of the way and they now can just have fun with the whole X-Men vs Brotherhood rivalry.

SeeyouAnnetea has to be the coolest girl on this site compared to all of the other lame ass tricks on here.A girl thats into comics,CBM,and performing fellatio. Now that's a real woman.Oh yeah, and which theatre is this you go to by the way.HaHaHa!!!

People complaining about the original team should just get over it. The team as it stands now is Beast, Havok, and Banshee and that's cool with me considering Havok and Banshee are at least original characters from the original comics. It's not as bad as The Brotherhood. Not one original character from the early comics but Magneto. That's what people should be complaining about if anything but I guess the orignal 5 X-Men argument is just an easier thing to needlessly complain about. Keeping fishing cynics. First Class is the best MOVIE Marvel has made thus far. Deal with it!

It was pretty good. Good as most of Marvel Studios' stuff. It wasn't that distant from the source material and if anyone actually read the X-Men: First Class comic book before bitching, they would know that the XFC comic would make a terrible movie.

marvel72
marvel72 - 6/12/2011, 11:36 AM
it was good, but definetly not the best comic book movie ever.

pros

-erik,charles & beast are the best performances.
-the violence was good.
-set during 60s.
-some of the cgi.
-emma frost, rosie byrne are nice to look at.
-azazel was nice brutal bastard.
-magneto costume at the end was ok.
-it was well written in places.
-wolverine cameo was good but.
-havok & banshee were alright but should been saved for the sequel

cons

-comic & movie conunity was f*ckin shit.
-january jones terrible actress.
-didn't think much of bacon as a shaw.
-bit cheesy & badly written in places.
-was wolverine cameo really needed.
-darwin,angel & riptide pointless unintresting characters.
-should of been the original line up & a reboot.
-some off the cgi was piss poo i.e 1st appearence of beast.

No where near the level of TDK but still great film

terrible adaptation

basically magneto charles and beast were the only people to care about

shouldve had the original 5 or atleast ATTEMPTED to show some form of continuity.

X2 was still superior

Marvel, you've said that plenty of times, by now the whole world and their moms know that you watched it on download. Funny thing is that you were probably there opening night with your Magneto helmet, Beast hands, and X-Men thong.
