Rob Liefeld Wants Stephen Lang for Cable

Rob Liefeld Wants Stephen Lang for Cable

Stephen Lang, last seen in Avatar as Colonel Miles Quaritch, seems to be the only choice for the creator of Cable, Rob Leifeld, if it comes to a CBM.

So, I just bought the whole Arc of Cable & Deadpool. After beeing through with it, I was really into this duo. Loved the connection. But I never knew too much about Cable, so I did me some research.

I found this article (from december 09), where some Twitter messages from Rob Liefeld were shown:

After seeing Avatar Liefeld posted the following on Twitter.

@robertliefeld Dear 20th Century Fox, Please sign Steven Lang as Cable and put him in your next X-men film. Thanks, Rob

@robertliefeld Steven Lang’s performance as Quaritch in Avatar was brilliant. Just attach a cyborg arm to him and presto! he’s Cable. Perfect age too.

The site also shows a picture of Stephen Lang, in the movie Avatar.

Now, imho, I would agree with him. If Stephen would bulk up a little more, he could pull it off.

What do you think?

Kind regards,
"Your friendly German sidekick, Darantino"

@Keven

I completely agree, I would never have thought of this before Avatar, but now, can't really see anyone else as a better fit!! Mad props on your foresight Ozy!!!

Even though Cable is a pretty mature guy, I don't think you want an actor that old playing him.

I can't stand Lang. My opinion: Lang was far from brilliant in Avatar. Once of the most cliche characters ever actually.

I'm all for Michael Biehn or Bruce Willis.

IMO he doesn't even need to bulk up. people put too much stock in how big these guys are. they have super-powers. you can believe that but if if they're not built like mark macguire playing football in the dominican it doesn't work?
keep him just as he is, he's in good shape for a regular human being. im all for this guy playing cable!

it should have like a 'grindhouse'/b-movie feel to it. some nice pulp action!

I wouldn't mind him playing Cable, but that's not the issue. The issue is what movie will Cable be in. Deadpool is the only one that comes to mind that I know is actually being made. If he's going to be in an X-men movie, it is going to be a long time.

@LEEE I still like Michael for Cable, too.

@ macksimus

yeah, but it would be selling the character short if you don't introduce him in x-men, and as badass as cable is, i don't want him in a movie just for the sake of having him there. if you do that then you need to come up with a whole different origin for him, and that would be weak.

i find it funny that so many people complain about changes being made to characters, yet people are okay with cable popping up with a different origin, or worse yet, no explanation of who or where he comes from?? how does that work?

He gave one of the worst performances in Avatar, far from brilliant. Michael Biehn and Kurt Russel are far superior choices to play Cable.

Well, if Rob Liefield says so then............who cares? That guy twitters stuff like this all the time to try and stay relevant.

Biehn for Cable

Welcome aboard Darantino! Good first article

Either would be great Cables IMO. Biehn has been a believable badass in everything from Terminator to Tombstone to Planet Terror. I feel strange calling Lang an up and coming actor, but the dude was king Sh!*-kicker in Avatar. Definately fell into the catagory of villians like.

Rollins F-ing rocks. Just check out his spoken word stuff or his stint on Sons of Anarchy. Hearing a spoken word-style rant on how the future would turn out would make my day. But I just don't see him doing it.
Sorry @statechamp00.

Michael Biehn is PERFECT for Cable!!!

Stephen Lang is decent but nowhere near as stellar as Biehn or Russel! Just because he "looked" like the character in avatar, doesn't make him the perfect choice for it. His performance was nothing spectacular really.
