RUMOR: Is Cyclops In X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST?

A new rumor has started on Twitter, apparently James Marsden was seen on a flight leaving Montreal earlier today that also contained Halle Berry, take this with a huge grain of salt but read on for the exact tweets and some more information!

Now as I have said on my previous article regarding Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy, I urge you again to take this with a huge grain of salt, this is not confirming Cyclops's appearence but this is also not saying it won't happen. With a cast as packed at this one, I highly doubt Cyclops will appear in the movie but maybe I'm wrong, here's the tweets from the eyewitness, Ray Carsillo. Who does have some credibility since he was a columnist for ESPN and covered geeky information when he wrote for Newsday.

“Accidentally made the tabloids today as I happened to be on the same flight back from Montreal with Halle Berry,”

“James Marsden was there too. They were shooting X-Men stuff….They were sitting two rows in front of me. When we got off the plane, James was heading to connecting flight.”

“But yes, it seems that both Halle Berry and James Marsden were in Montreal for the next X-movie". - Ray Carsillo

Now take this with a huge grain of salt as there are many reasons why Cyclops won't appear.

1. He hasn't been cast

2. The cast is packed as it is

3. He's dead in the film series.

But then again, Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier is dead and he is in it, Rogue lost her powers in Last Stand but she is in it, so I guess this could actually happen. Comment below and let me know! You can check out Ray's twitter account In the link below.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is an upcoming American superhero film co-written, produced and directed by Bryan Singer and featuring the X-Men characters appearing in Marvel Comics. It is intended to be the seventh installment in the X-Men film series. The screenplay is written by Simon Kinberg, Matthew Vaughn, and Jane Goldman, with Singer writing the story. The film is based on the 1981 popular comics storyline "Days of Future Past" by Chris Claremont and John Byrne. It is the third X-Men film directed by Singer after 2000's X-Men and 2003's X2.

Acting as a sequel to both 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand and 2011's X-Men: First Class, Days of Future Past includes cast members from both: Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, Ellen Page, and Daniel Cudmore return from X-Men: The Last Stand, while James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult return from X-Men: First Class. Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Booboo Stewart, Fan Bingbing and Adan Canto round out the film's principal cast. Principal photography began in April 2013 in Montreal, Canada. The film is being shot in 3D.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is scheduled to be released on July 18, 2014.

If Cyclops's character is written good, James Marsden can be an awesome Cyclops! People complain that Marsden is dull and boring, but that's because the character was written to be dull and boring.

Didn't they already say there is elements of time travel in this movie? I think they are going to go back and fix everything that got screwed up in X-Men 3

U don't need to recast Cyclops, just make him more important to the team than Wolverine.

I mean there have always been two leaders in the Marvel U that people count on. CAP AND CYKE.

@strangerx I agree they need to put him up front more and really show some back bone to Wolvie

@strangerx I third this comment. I'd like to see a bad a$$ Cyclops working closely with a future Wolverine and ultimately both getting killed protecting the time traveler during a sentinel attack. The source material is great, but I'm all for adapting it in the style of a What If...?

I wouldn't be surprised. They wouldn't exactly announce it if they'd like to keep it a surprise and odds are good Cyke wouldn't have a huge role. Seeing as this is very much a set up for a proper X4, I'd expect Marsden to actually do more in that, but some kind of "resurrection" for Cyclops wouldn't be out of the question.

@Levi: I love Beast but [frick] him, we need Cyclops and have him be the leader for once. I love the X-Men movies (the exception of Last Stand and Origins) but, Cyclops needs to be the leader and a main role.

Cyclops and Jean need to be in it. Plus, we NEVER saw Cyclops actually dying!

@khan and jollem, if my memory serves,
the "Patrick Stewart" Prof X died in the movie, they simply indicated that his mind was alive in a different body.

Maybe their time travel takes them to an alternate universe were X3 did not happen, an alternate reality that has the Juggernaut not being a mutant.

I sort of agree with PeterDarker. I think the damage is already done to the Xmen franchise. Thank goodness Whedon had to sense to make Evans' Captain America lead the Avengers and not the more popular RDJ's Iron Man.

Singer didn't understand how not making Cyclops a leader of the Xmen would effect the entire series. Personall, if they are going to stay with Jackman as Wolverine then recast with someone like Armie Hammer as Cyclops. Could never buy into the short Cyclops and tall Wolverine.

I would like to have seen 1st Class build an entirely new X-Men timeline because it was a better representation of X-Men than the 3 films.
But if theyre going to crossover with the oldies then hopefully the X-Men destroy the Bret Ratner Suckyverse completely.

Since this based on Days of Future Past and Singer has referred to this movie as an 'in-betwee-quel' there's still plenty of room for Cyclops.

@Nomis, monkeyballs and KnightGambit

You guys called it. There was a guy with Cyclops powers who looked like him, but didn't act like, get the screen time he deserved or lead like Cyclops should. For that matter, where was Dark Phoenix. Never even liked her casting as Jean.
I think James Marsden could do Cyclops right if the character is written right, as the true field leader of the X-men. Wolverine should give Cyclops a hard time as the leader, but ultimately respect him (at least for the time frame that the first three movies came from, not counting current comics.
Never showed Cyclops dying and I even thought that was done on purpose. Of course, I thought he would reappear during Last Stand, not in some later movie. I also thought that Dark Phoenix went to kill him, but the side that was truly Jean held back and sent him away, put him some kind of suspended animation or hid him away somewhere.

dead? nah i always just imagined Sinister was watching and knocked Cyclops and Phoenix out before she could kill him. Takes both Cyke and extracts her DNA (bc he doesnt want to mess with the Phoenix entity) and clones her without the phoenix aspect. Cyclops is now under his control
