I just love how you come on not to say anything about what Hugh said but to yet again take the piss out of this movie just because. Youre right of course it would be Hugh the man has been the selling point of these movies and the msot popular character from them since the started so that should be no surprise. Get over it already

And The Avengers

starring

Robert Downey Jr.
Robert Downey Jr.
Robert Downey Jr.

Get the [frick] over it. All of these franchises have a character that comes out on top in marketing.

I really liked Captain America 2 but Iron Man or Stark was referenced 5 times. I counted. Why does Iron Man need that amount of mentions?

You're 'argument' holds no water. While I'll school you I ask that you kindly clean that water up. Now, the whole 'Avengers starring RDJ, RDJ, and RDJ' thing does not work. Marvel has released solo films for EACH member of the avengers. Thor, Hulk, Captain America AND Iron Man. Fox has released solo films for ONE character: Wolverine. THEN every 'team-up' film they've ever released, guess whose in it? Wolverine. Guess who is the star for 99% of them? Wolverine. So that argument is such a terrible one.

Now you can eat this biscuit slowly, or painfully.

He has a man crush on him. A shrine of RDJ in his bedroom that he worships and pretends to hate him when people call him out on it;)

@ Pasto:

You have merely observed something about the Fox marketing that occurs with ALL movies... its called 'selling' stuff... I would much rather read comments that relate to the headline or news provided, rather than read comments that amount to 'Team MARVEL!....Whooooooo!'

Thats fine if you want to do that, but I am just saying, you are not winning anybody over to what appears to be your cause.. Just sayin'

he needs to make an extra effort.
he makes no money outside of the character singer adapted for him.

"Get the [frick] over it. All of these franchises have a character that comes out on top in marketing."

You're right, that's why RDJ's name popped up on the character posters of the Avengers that didn't feature him in them. Oh wait.....
thewonderer
thewonderer - 4/4/2014, 9:43 AM
Jesus Christ it's a poster. I'm not arguing against Hugh Jackman being the clear star and I'll definitely agree that he is more a main character than RDJ is but that doesn't mean RDJ isn't the clear star of the Avengers.

RDJ and Iron Man did everything in Avengers, he was front and center in all of the marketing. Yeah his name wasn't on posters he wasn't in but do you want to know why? BECAUSE HE WAS IN EVERY POSTER!

And like I said, someone want to tell me why Iron Man is referenced about 5-6 times in Cap 2 with ZERO mentions of Thor or Hawkeye? I like that Bruce Banner is referenced 2-3 times but the Iron Man mentions are so shoehorned in.

@ the Wonderer:
@ pasto:

Thewonderer's argument holds plenty of water... did you not see X-men: First Class? Not much Wolverine in that one... in fact, the little cameo that Hugh Jackman had in that, was kept secret and not marketed at all.

I do not believe thewonderer is hating on RDJ. I think he is just making the point, that if you are going to get mad at Fox, for using Jackman as the primary marketing tool, you will have to get mad at Marvel for doing it with RDJ.

I think the point is, that its not appealing to see people hate a studio for doing one thing, and then when their preferred studio does that same one thing, they support it or give it a pass>

Be consistent is the point.
thewonderer
thewonderer - 4/4/2014, 9:45 AM
And whysoserious is right

Hugh Jackman loves being Wolverine and is willing to reprise the role for as long as he can.

RDJ only cares about making more and more money off playing the character and he won't reprise his role unless Marvel offers the big bucks.

That's THE ONLY reason he doesn't appear in the other films. Instead they mention him 5-6 times in Cap 2 to keep audiences interested.
m0th3r
m0th3r - 4/4/2014, 9:46 AM
Dude...yep, this was so normal to feature two actors and then another on the poster under them that i have seen it..o never. Watch, there will be some sort of SAG complaints over this by the actors. I mean if he was actually on the poster...

I still hold that Fox is trolling itself..they were jealous we were having so much fun mocking their FF casting and predicting financial loss on DoFP that they needed to join in...
thewonderer
thewonderer - 4/4/2014, 9:46 AM
Thanks Lucasberg, I [frick]ing hate this bias against Sony and Fox and THAT is the primary reason I keep mentioning the flaws of the MCU so that the playing field can be leveled.

Stop overrating the MCU Pasto, they [frick] up and let their greed get to them as well. Every business does.

m0th3r - 4/4/2014, 9:48 AM
@thewonderer right..because he was in Cap1 and Thor..and planned for TIH..since we know that was a patch scene your argument holds zero water...

If it was true, they would have used RDJ instead of Evans during Loki's shapeshifting scene...DId they? O, nope...

You damn well know that's bullshit!

"RDJ and Iron Man did everything in Avengers, he was front and center in all of the marketing. Yeah his name wasn't on posters he wasn't in but do you want to know why? BECAUSE HE WAS IN EVERY POSTER!"

He was front and centre in the marketing but he didn't do everything in the movie. Just because he stood out the most, doesn't mean everything revolved around him. Try again.

"That's THE ONLY reason he doesn't appear in the other films."

He appeared in the Incredible Hulk LOL

Hugh Jackman was just nominated for best actor at the oscars last year for his role in Les Miserables~

RDJ AND Hugh Jackman are widely counted as A-List stars.

Fox's marketing is not hard to understand.
