X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

Unfortunately, the following video can only be viewed in the US.

Starring James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Erik Lensherr, Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy, Jennifer Lawrence as Raven Darkholme, Lucas Till as Alex Summers/Havok, Caleb Landry Jones as Sean Cassidy/Banshee, Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw, Oliver Platt as the Man in Black, Jason Flemyng as Azazel and Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggart, X-Men: First Class is set to be released in the UK on June 1st and in the US on June 2nd.

Man, I hope Singers not involved if we do get a sequel!

They should make life sized replicas of MAGNETO's helmet... I'd buy one!

So, let's completely change Xavier and make him what you want him to be. Nice. If you want to change everything, why show any scenes from the earlier movies? Talk about not making up your mind. First it's a prequel, then its not, but let's copy prior scenes to make people think we are making a prequel, but then let's change all the continuity. Nothing they say makes sense. Singer...you did change the essentials in this one. Screw the X-Men...we will just take the characters and do our own thing with them. Oh well, I'm all for liberties, but they pretty much admit they did more than take liberties. As I said before. It will be a decent movie...just not a decent X-Men movie.

@Lee agreed, that helmet is about 10 times better than the one in the original trilogy, and I probably prefer it to the comics one when it's coloured properly (red and purple) as hinted by the image of Mags from behind.

@Ranger in response to what you said, I think they want to show him as a young man with flaws, I mean how many 20 somethings are exactly the same when they're 70 odd? They mature over time. If you had the power to read minds, tell me you wouldn't use it for your own personal gain to begin with. You'd be lying if you said you wouldn't.
I'm not sure if my response makes any sense since I can't actually watch the vid since I'm not in the US, but I hope it sort of clarified things or something.

Insert generic "Bryan Singer sucks!" comment here.

It is pretty awkward that they're sitting across from each other. They're not interviewing each other and it looks like they're telling each other things they already know.
Anyway, I liked what I saw in this video. It's very cool that they reshot the Magneto scene. I thought they were just inserting the scene from the first movie into the trailer, but I guess they had some purpose for reshooting it. It probably tells something more. Anyway, at this point, screw cautious optimism. I'm pretty much hyped!

@BIGBMH Not usually, but this video won't let outside US viewers watch :/ it happens sometimes, it sucks.

Bummer. Well, they're really talking about a lot of stuff we already know so you're not missing much. They talk about how while Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen were great, this is a very different time in the lives of Charles and Erik so they wanted the portrayals of these characters to be something that James and Michael could create and find who they were at this point instead of copying what had been done. They said it's about their relationship more than anything and seeing them evolve.

Can't view the video either.

Did they explain why Fassbender inherits an Irish accent depsite being a Polish Jew?

@Newbus, No, they didn't really say anything about the accent or where he goes to live after the war. They did talk about how he's motivated by revenge and gave that comparison to James Bond with powers instead of gadgets.
