James Mangold & Hugh Jackman Set To Return For THE WOLVERINE Sequel

Deadline report that thanks to The Wolverine performing so well (second highest grossing X-Men movie!), Fox have entered into negotiations with Mangold and, of course, Jackman to return for a follow up flick. Read on for more..

According to Deadline, Twentieth Century Fox has begun negotiations with James Mangold to return to direct a follow up to The Wolverine, with Hugh Jackman on board to reprise the titular character for an unprecedented seventh time. We had assumed that Jackman's role in Bryan Singer's upcoming X-Men: Days Of Future Past might mark the actor's final appearance as the adamantium enhanced mutant, but that was before The Wolverine did so well at the Box Office -- the movie currently sits on $413 million worldwide. The story it would follow is said to be under wraps, but apparently Mangold is making a deal to write the treatment, with Lauren Shuler Donner producing. Most fans were very happy with The Wolverine, so I can't see too many having a problem with this news.

Interested to see how this would work considering The Wolverine seems to lead directly into DOFP, perhaps it takes after DOFP or during the two years before the after credit scene?

I've been trying to ask everyone on where they think another Wolverine movie can go. But every time I do so no one wants to hear me out...lol

X-Men: Days of Future Past

X-Force
- I'm a bit skeptical on exactly what the story will be about however I do know that the film will feature mutants who are not allowed into the X-Mansion. We know that it's highly possible that Cable, Deadpool, Domino and Wolverine will be featured in this movie.

Wolverine: Weapon X
-After the events of Days of Future Past are done Wolverine's future conscious will awaken in a "darker" world as Singer described. However where does this leave the 70's-80's Wolverine? Easy, as we already know there is going to be a younger William Stryker debuting in the 70's timeline of Days of Future past so this would be a great way to have Stryker lure Wolverine into the Weapon X program that consist if Sabertooth, Deadpool, Omega Red and Lady Deathstrike. Have Logan realize that all the things he took part of we're twisted and wromg so he redeems himself by taking on the entire team which would be one hell of an epic showdown for the last solo Wolverine flick.

Deadpool
-No one really knows what on earthy this film will be about besides Deadpool knowing that he's in a movie and etc..lol Would be still pretty pumped to see it though. You gotta love Deadpool

First Class 3
-Introducing Mr. Sinister which would be a great way to tie into Scott and Jean joining the X-Men. Would be also great to have Shadow King introduced as well to make way for Storm joining the team too. I'm still trying to discover exactly how a film like this could end and also tie into an Age of Apocalypse film.

X-Men: Age of Apocalypse
-Every time I think of this film I imagine it taking place in an alternate future in which Cyclops has the long hair (like in the comics and Wolverine and the X-Men) we would be able to explore the relationship Cyclops he his brother Havoc share working under sinister and planning to overrule him or save others in need of help. I never actually read too much about the other X-Men but I do know that Angel becomes Archangel. So it would be good to see the actor who played the character return.

What do you guys think???

It'll probably take place after The Wolverine but before the after credits scene, I believe they skipped a few years in between the movie and the scene for this purpose.

(If they decide to let it take place after The Wolverine) Have Wolverine return to discover what has become of Weapon X since he's been gone and tho way we can see Omega Red, Sabertooth, Lady Deathstrike, and Deadpool.

YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEESSSS!

[frick] yeah! Man, I never thought this'd happen. Man! Woo! I just hope they maintain the mood and feel of the first one. I know I've said it before, but it's just the perfect summary of what it felt like to me: Skyfall meets Drive meets Lost in Translation.

@ezio

I don't know about ratings, but i would rank them in the following order:

1. Thor: The Dark World
2. Man of Steel
3. Iron Man 3
4. Wolverine (I don't even want to rank this)

I can't believe some of you are actually supporting this!!!!! Wolverine is the main star in all the X-men films and has already had two solo movies and now instead of a Deadpool or an X-force movie we are getting yet another Wolverine movie?????[frick] FOX!!!!!!

@RyGor, yeah. And Colossus should be in it as well for Russia. I understand the hate for Fox(except for the 90s cartoon), but I think my two ideas are pretty legit. I wanna see Wolvie and Gambit at the Princess Bar fighting.
