Sure to be one of the biggest movies of the summer

This trailer looks incredibly awesome. Anyone who read the comics is pissing themselves for this. The people in the theater I saw it in clapped when Logan appeared on screen.

Everything in the trailer worked. The voice over in the beginning showing Wolverine as a child and then fighting in the wars and the music that went with that. The action and effects looked great. That helicopter shot at the end was amazing and was a great way to end the trailer. It left me on the edge of my seat and wanting more. Most importantly though it looks like they are taking this film seriously and want to do a faithful adaptation. It looks like they are taking an example from Nolan's Batman films and know that the audience wants dimensional and more realistic suer hero films. I was really excited to see that they are also incorporating parts from Wolverines childhood in there which were in the Origin comic. Plus of course fan favorite Gambit is in the mix so any true X Men fan is pumped about this.

Only concern I have is that they won't keep the film at a running time respectable enough to cover everything. I hate how studios think that audiences have the attention spans of a four year old. X Men 2 was like 133 min and was the best reviewed and most popular of the films. There is clearly a lot of interesting history to tell. Wolverine is like 200 years old after all. They need to keep the running time at a respectable length to get it all in right.

Still though I'm not too worried because this film has been put in the hands of a much more talented filmmaker than Brett Ratner who was clearly mostly interested in the money. Gavin Hood is a respected filmmaker who is an Academy Award winner where as Ratner was just the guy who did Rush Hour. I have faith. Hopefully people won't over hype this and get all geeky about little changes that the people behind the film may make to raise the stakes and fit everything in. I think this is sure to be one of the biggest movies of the summer.
