X-MEN And X-2 Costume Designer To Reunite With Bryan Singer For X-MEN: DOFP

If you didn't like the black leather costumes from the first two X-Men movies then this won't come as good news to you! Costume designer Louise Mingenbach, who also worked on Superman Returns, has signed up to reunite with Bryan Singer for X-Men: Days of Future Past.

X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer has just revealed via his Twitter account that he is set to reunite with costume designer Louise Mingenbach on the highly anticipated sequel to Matthew Vaughn's critically acclaimed X-Men: First Class. It's hard to say whether or not this is good news, especially when it seems that the majority of fans hated the generic black leather costumes which, to the chagrin of many readers, were later used in Grant Morrison's New X-Men run (before Joss Whedon gave the mutants back their costumes in Astonishing X-Men). Mingenbach also worked on Superman Returns and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. How do you guys feel about this?

I'm supporting DOFP all the way because they seemed to be turning things around with FC, but they're bringing back a lot of bad habits.

That leather costume thing doesn't make any sense.

Josh, you or Galactus should tweet them that. They might actually take notice from CBM.com.

I would be worried, but I think with the success of the Avengers and bringing Mark Millar on board they're gonna take the chances with real costumes from the comics. We'll see with Wolverine, if they give him his costume than I'll believe in DOFP

I hope fox makes them design colourful costumes, considering the fact that its more accepted nowadays then black leather

toco89: I Tweeted the link to this article to Bryan Singer, so here's hoping he takes a look at the comments and appreciates that pretty much NO ONE wants to see those horrible costumes make a comeback. :)

Just another point to be added to the list of reasons to boycott this piece of utter shit.

I think the idea here is to make a movie like first class and the initial trilogy at the same time.

T:TDW > IM3 > S:MOS

Wolverine and X:DOF have next to no hope in my opinion.

This woman ain't the problem. At the end of the day, the director get's final say so. Remember that this lady made Superman a big frekin S and Singer told her to make it small!

Honestly I hope Singer doesn't try to force an evolution into the black suits. I hope he uses this as a chance to make the team real costumes. In 2000 this worked and then Raimi took him to school.

She also designed Mystique and the new Spider-Man which looks awesome. The leather was Singer's idea.

Whatever they do - give the uniforms(?) some type of functionality. In First Class, they were essentially military jumpsuits. Honestly, I have faith that they have learned from their mistakes and can confidently approach the more "colorful" costumes from the comics. This is takes place in an apocalyptic setting, no? They HAVE to give the suits functionality - if they give them any uniform at all...

x-men first class had its moments but nothing mind blowing about the movie.i'm up for the sequel mainly for the sentinels & some of the original cast members returning.

can't stand the first class line up.

@ brazilianbatman

you think the x-men uniforms look better than wolverine classic comic costume & superman's costume from the superman quadrilogy.......

XD hahahahahahahahaha!

I loved First Class but it seems like DOFP is taking huge strides backward... I hope her costume designs are good this time around, wasn't a fan of the old X-Men trilogy costumes nor the Superman Returns suit...

Worst news since hearing Singer is on as director. I enjoyed the first 2 X-Men, but I enjoyed First Class so much more.

Hey, at least it's not X-3.

Okay. Not exactly like that ^ But that ^ and the First Class uniforms. Especially if this film has them battle frickin' Sentinels.

I didn't hate the original costumes, so I don't think it's a big deal. I mean, the classic costumes would hardly work on screen without looking silly. Even in The Avengers the costumes were kind of 'down to earth' (for the lack of a better word; english is not my first language)

I did like the costumes in First Class. I don't think it's necessary for the X-Men to have a 'black ops' vibe. At least not post-First Class. I could see it in a world more wary of the mutants, like in the original trilogy.

Doesn't Deadpool have a cameo in DOFP? Interesting to see how he looks, since the Deadpool movie calls for his comic book costume.
