X-MEN Animated Series Could Be In The Works At Marvel Studios; Is The '90s Classic Getting A Revival?

An interesting new rumour has started doing the rounds suggesting that an X-Men animated series could be in the works at Marvel Studios, but is there a chance this is THE X-Men: The Animated Series?

There have been rumblings for a while now that something could be in the works with X-Men: The Animated Series at Marvel Studios, and a new rumour may have given us a little more to go on.

According to scooper KC Walsh during a recent appearance on the Change My Mind podcast, he's heard that an animated X-Men project is in the works at the studio for Disney+, but "[doesn't] know if it's something new, if they're retooling something." However, he adds that "There was talk about a year ago that people involved with that certain theme song may have had conversations with a certain studio. And I did hear in 2023 that there's a possibly animated project going into the works."

Just like The Clone Wars was revived for Disney's streaming service, it makes perfect sense to bring X-Men: The Animated Series back. Whether that would be with modern animation or a recreation of what the show used to look like is hard to say, but it will certainly be interesting to see whether Marvel Studios is able to bring back that original voice cast.

Of course, it's also possible this is a new project, and that might not be the worst way for the studio to reinvent these characters for a modern audience after Fox's disastrous last few movies.

Whether this X-Men show would be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe remains to be seen, but we're optimistic that there are live-action plans in place for the mutant superheroes. Victoria Alonso, President of Physical, Post Production, VFX and Animation at Marvel Studios, has hinted at a rebranding of the team in past interviews, so who knows what form this project could take.

Would you like to see X-Men: The Animated Series make a return?

Hmm the modern Marvel animation doesn't have nearly the same tone as the 90s shows. If they bring it back i don't want it to be a dumbed-down jokes-fest. I want the tone to match and as many of the voice cast returning as possible.

Assuming they do that, this would bring a tear to my eye. The GOAT.

@TheManWithoutFear - Batman TAS is the GOAT, for me. But X-Men was only halt a step behind.

@CorndogBurglar - Yeah i think objectively Batman is better. But we grew up as a Marvel household and X-Men just totally captured us.

The series had a decent finale with Beyond Good and Evil... And then they stretched the show beyond that (pun not intended) with one more much weaker season, so why not? Maybe they can go on higher note on this time.

The main problem is that they can't reunite the voice cast, since Cyclops is dead and Rogue retired from voice acting.

@FinnishDude - Wait, Lenore Zann retired?

@FlixMentallo21 - Well, to be more specific, she retired from acting and went to politics. I guess it wouldn't be impossible to get her back, but kinda unlikely.

Nooooooooo.
Leave it alonneeeeeeeee.

If anything, make an anime series of the Jim Lee X-Men, similar in the style of the japanese intro.

And please don’t make it connected to the MCU. Leave that for the films.

A continuation with the same team would be amazing. A remake or remaster isn’t necessary. An entirely new show though would be welcome. The problem is we’ve seen Spider-Man cartoons get butchered ever since Disney acquired Marvel and Spectacular Spider-Man was scrapped. Sony we’re doing great with that show. Ever since then though they’re going for the child only audience. Guardians and Avengers have been mediocre too. X-Men should be getting its own series that’s treated the same way the Clone Wars, Rebels and Bad Batch were made. Fully intended for all audiences. Just no filler for the love of god. Give me 6-8 solid episodes of pure story arc.

You can only have one:
1. X-men The animated series
2. Batman The animated series
3. Spider-man (from the 90’s)

@WruceBayne - tough choice between the top two but I’d have to go Batman the animated series.
