X-MEN's Jennifer Lawrence & GOTG's Chris Pratt Are The Highest-Grossing Actors Of 2014

It stands to reason that block busting movies result in bank busting stars, so it's no surprise to find these two topping Forbes' annual list of the top-grossing actors in Hollywood. In fact, the top 10 is dominated by CBM-faves, so click on to find out who else made the big bucks this year..

Given the incredible amount of cash generated by The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 and X-Men: Days Of Future Past, nobody should be shocked to learn that Jennifer Lawrence was the highest-grossing actor in Hollywood this year. The ever-popular 24-year-old topped Forbes' list, with both of her biggest 2014 movies collectively pulling in $1.4 billion worldwide. Lawrence might well top next year's list too, as we have the final instalment in the Hunger Games series to look forward to in 2015. In second place was Chris Pratt, who played the lead role in Marvel's surprise hit, Guardians Of The Galaxy. That awesome flick made almost $800 million worldwide, and Pratt had a big The Lego Movie pay-day too.

The rest of the top 10 is comprised of actors who appeared in either a comic book movie, or, in the case of Angelina Jolie's Maleficent, a film we covered here on CBM at least. In third place was Scarlett Johansson (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Under The Skin, Lucy), fourth was Mark Wahlberg (Transformers: Age of Extinction), and fifth was Chris Evans (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Snowpiercer). Coming in at sixth place was Emma Stone (The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Birdman), seventh was Jolie, and a trio of X-Men (James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Hugh Jackman) took the eight, ninth and tenth spots. Once again, a great year for superhero movies and their stars. Is fatigue really setting in? Doesn't look that way.

does her supporting role in DOFP count? I thought it would only be lead roles

Even though I didn't like GOTG, I'm glad I saw it because it introduced me to the wonderful world of Parks and Recreation.

That's a lot of weight riding on Lawrence. Now that the Hunger Games is almost over many of her fans should be willing to check her out in Apocalypse.

Maybe the $1.2 billion was including the profits from both Guardians and The Lego Movie? I'm not sure though, that confused me too.

No it didn't. It made around 772 million $.
Maybe you're including The Lego Movie's b.o. haul ?

GOTG was awesome, happy for Pratt, he deserves the success, can't wait for the sequel

DOFP, Lawrence and the Fox-Men was entertaining, I hope they do something different for Mystique though, it was so obvious she was painted and I wasn't really feeling the effects for Mystique either, not sure what they could do to fix it though

Uh, I missed the news of GOTG making the billion dollar club.
Unless, you mean Pratt was in Transformers 4.

So true!! I hate the fact that she's so nitpicky when it comes to here make-up. There were some scenes where her make-up looked great on camera (finale at the end) but in other areas it was just way too obvious. The only reason why they changed her make-up from the epic one from first class was because she complained how long it takes her to get the procedure done. Reasons like this is why I can honestky care less if she's recast in the next trilogy/slate of films. Rebecca put on that outfit/make-up with ease. Can't stand it when celebrities complain about things like these (only unless the outfit is leaving them in pain or it is uncomfortable)

I'm just hoping we get some nightcrawler and mystique explanation in this flick or at least a huge hint towards it.

According to this, Lawrence asked for a body suit because the paint irritated her skin, plus she didn't want to go through 9 hours of make-up like Romijn did. Not that I think Mystique really looked all that great in Days of Future Past, but I'm not sure it's fair to get on Lawrence's case about this.

Agh Dangit, well perhaps I was too crucial towards her complaints. However, I think he department should at LEAST make an attempt to put her in the classic white dress. To me this would help alleviate the needs of her going through numerous lengthy hours of sessions where she'll be given the make-up and etc. But yeah, I won't be an a-hole and say she should deal with the irritation. Whatever is best for her is all that matters.

SauronsBANE - 12/28/2014, 9:34 AM
@TheRationalNerd Haha yeah no worries. I've gone on record previously with saying that she should woman up and just deal with it too, but I realize it's definitely not my place to say what she should or shouldn't do for her role.

I agree though, almost anything would've been better than her make-up in First Class and Days of Future Past. The white dress is something that'd be really fun to see adapted onto the big screen...I just don't know if Fox has the balls to do that.

@SauronsBANE

Lol! At least I don't feel alone now with my guilt! *phew* xD But mannnn, anytime you have to ask if Fox has the balls to pull off a "white dress" you know there's something wrong in the costume designer department. After seeing all of those concept art photos of costumes that could've possibly been used for the film I asked myself "WHAT THE [frick] HAPPENED?!" you know? But now seeing that Kinberg has stated that Fox is giving them more creative control I guess I'll have to just wait and see what new features will be brought to the franchise in due time.
SauronsBANE
SauronsBANE - 12/28/2014, 10:01 AM
@TheRationalNerd You're in good company =P

But haha yeah seriously! We've certainly made some progress since the first few X-Men movies which were filled with nothing but black leather outfits, but there's so much room for improvement. More creative control is always good, so let's hope that means some bolder and riskier costume designs in the future!

Haters gonna hate. The fact is, the majority of people like her, and she's one of the few people in Hollywood who doesn't seem to be a giant tool bag. Same goes for Pratt.

Haha, I hear you, and I like JLaw, I have no problem with her, she's an amazing actress but in this day and age, I would think there must be something that they could do to make Mystique look better, I'm actually not even a fan of the effect they used in DOFP when she was shapeshifting
