Today's episode of X-Men '97, "Tolerance Is Extinction - Part 2," opens with Charles Xavier waking up in the ruins of the X-Mansion. Magneto's EMP blast has left the world in disarray and the X-Men have only 12 hours to get him to undo the damage before it becomes permanent.

Storm saves Jubilee and Sunspot from an angry group of humans and Cyclops turns down Professor X's offer of friendship. Rogue, meanwhile, continues to mourn for Gambit and the team later splits in two: one group will confront Magneto and the other needs to defeat Bastion so they can free the Prime Sentinels from his control.

The X-Men don their 80s-style costumes and are confronted by Magneto (who has pulled Asteroid M out of the sea). He plans to make that asteroid a new Genosha and refuses to undo the damage he's inflicted upon humanity.

Rogue and Sunspot choose to stand by the Master of Magnetism's side, leaving the X-Men behind.

The battle with Bastion begins, with Storm and Forge holding off the Sentinels - later getting overpowered - while Jean Grey, Cable, Beast, and Morph battle the robots on the ground. With that, Morph transforms into The Incredible Hulk!

Jean soon has her hands full with Mister Sinister, who manages to bring Cable under his control. It's telekinetic versus telekinetic and, on Asteroid M, Cyclops, Wolverine, Jubilee, and Nightcrawler do battle with Magneto, Rogue, and Sunspot.

Professor X instructs Scott to remove Magneto's helmet so he can take control of his old friend, and even though the plan succeeds, when Jean reaches out to Scott and he sees what's happening on Earth, he chooses to sever the connection. It's the only way to give the other team time to stop Bastion, though given his doubt in Charles, Scott's motivations seem a tad murky here.

With that, Magneto is about to kill Professor X but is suddenly stabbed by Wolverine who tells him, "Been in a lot of wars, bub. The brave always die first."

He responds to that by ending their feud once and for all: Magneto tears out Logan's Adamantium skeleton as the episode ends, recreating an iconic comic book moment...

Another great episode. I’d say Episode 5 was still more shocking, but this one had some great moments. Bone claw time!

Friendly reminder that the ONLY reason we all are loving this show is because the showrunner is gay and a PoC and absolutely NOT because he's a legit great storyteller, someone who's CLEARLY a huge fan of the comics, one that pulls shit from guys like Claremont, Lobdell, Nicieza, Morry etc... :)

This what FoX-Men movies should've been like. Wasted all comic storylines, even in days of future fight they had to make Wolverine the lead. Thank god it's finally over
