Daily Mail (via The Playlist) reveals that British actor Jack O'Connell (who previously worked on the television series Skins, and will be soon be seen in Legendary Pictures' The Seventh Son) has signed on for a role in Warner Bros.' planned 300 follow-up, apparently titled 300: Battle Of Artemisia. The movie is expected to begin production this summer in Bulgaria. O'Connell is said to be playing the character Calista, and is currently undergoing some sword training for the part. Jamie Blackley was previously set to play the character, but recently dropped out. He joins previously revealed cast members Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green, Rodrigo Santoro (who's reprising his role as Xerxes from the first movie) and Callan Mulvey. Noam Murro is directing from a script by Kurt Johnstad.

300: Battle Of Artemisia is expected to hit theaters August 2nd, 2013.

Natrag, just because the same actor is playing Xerxes doesn't mean the film is going to be good. Grow a brain.

Just watching the Series 4 finale of Skins...great actor, makes me somewhat excited for this. 300 was a great flick the first few times I saw it. We used it to demo TVs at a job I used to work, so it's been played out to hell and back for me.

Nice to know, after the first two seasons he was the only good thing about skins, that show has gone horribly down hill

I enjoyed 300 for what it was, but I think this is a pretty unnecessary film. It's like if they were to make another Watchmen film.

Never really watched Skins, although I did catch a few episodes while Jack O'Connell was in it, and while the show was pretty shit, Jack's quite a good actor. I don't know whether I'll watch this though, won't go out of my way to see it anyway.
