Two years after Jason Bourne hit theaters, Universal has been virtually silent on the future on the franchise. With mixed reactions from general audiences, it is no surprise that the studio has been very careful on what to do next. Currently, due to a Jason Bourne follow up looking unlikely, Universal has opted to bring the next addition to the small screen.
Treadstone, which has been ordered to series by USA, will focus on the CIA organization that turned Jason Bourne into a living weapon. According to Variety, the freshman season will see a number of new agents on international missions following activation.
Though franchise veterans Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon are not involved at this point, there remains substantial talent behind the scenes. Heroes' Tim Kring will write the series, while 99 Homes director Ramin Bahrani will helm the pilot. Both will serve as executive producers on the project.
