Darren Aronofsky's NOAH Casts Two Little Known Actors As Cain And Abel

Darren Aronofsky's biblical epic has surprisingly added Cain and Abel to the retelling of the well-known story of Noah's Ark. Who will play the sons of Adam and Eve? You're unlikely to have ever heard of them, but hit the jump for details!

Iceland Review (via The Playlist) reports that little known Icelandic actors Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson and Arnar Dan have joined the cast of Noah as Cain and Abel [more details on their story can be found HERE]. The two may seem out of place in a film which will retell the well-known Bible tale of Noah and his Ark, but the site goes on to mention that they aren't set to have many lines (meaning that their role in the film will probably amount to little more than a brief flashback). They join the already impressive cast which includes Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman, Ray Winstone, and Anthony Hopkins. Noah opens on March 28th, 2014.

It's interesting to see how they're going to spin this nonsense, with the modern world being aware that there are billions of species on the planet, all of which eat and crap like nobody's business. Some of these animals can barely be photographed let alone captured by the best zoologist and biologists around, yet this guy is going to do it alone? This movie better not have the tagline "based on a true story." lol.

Wait a minute, what planet does this take place on? Judging by that picture above, this isn't Earth.

I first read the headline as "two little actors" instead of "little-known." Either way, I think Verne Troyer and Deep Roy would have made much better choices.

I think the focus is less about the bible and more about telling the epic, which from a story standpoint, is a great. Plus, I'm sure he'll try to tie in some stuff with gilgamesh as well

Not sure how correct to the bible this will be… guess I'll have to read the book. And wasn't Spielburg attached a movie about Moses and the Isrealites with a Saving Private Ryan tone to it? I'd really like that.

@GuardianAngel: So let me get this straight, it's okay to criticize how Bruce Wayne got back to Gotham and then had time to draw a giant bat symbol on one of the bridges, but criticizing a biblical story that millions of people stupidly take seriously is the MOST idiotic criticism you've ever heard? Let me guess, you're a believer aren't you? What a joke.

Wait..If this movie is about Noah then why does the picture have Thor in it??

Cain & Abel lived hundreds of years before Noah.

Hopefully the movie treats the story more as a mythological story and not something straight from the bible. We don't need more propaganda of those stories, though I do find those stories interesting

@Luminus -"Wait a minute, what planet does this take place on? Judging by that picture above, this isn't Earth."

Why, the Earth doesn't have a sun & moon & desert?
Granted it's a unusual configuration, but as told it's supposed to be a fantastic antediluvian biblical earth, with giants, angels, etc...

Remember the stories of Eve and Adam, Cain and Abel, Noah and his 8 family members didnt happen on our Earth. It happened on a parallel Earth that surrounds our own. We know it as the Celestial Sphere (George Lucas modeled his Death Star after it). You'll find the Sun, Moon, Planets, zodiac and all other constellations mappedd out on it. All biblical stories, like all mythologies are telling the tale of Celestial movements. The main hero is the Sun. In the story of Cain and Abel. Cain represents the MOON and Abel The SUN. When Cain kills Abel, it represents a Lunar eclipse(when the moon turns blood red). In Norse mythology Thor is the SUN and Loki the MOON. The serpent in the Garden represents the constellation Draco which resides in the North at the North Celestial Pole, it nevver rises or sets, so it doesn't follow the cycle of life, death and rebirth. This serpent currently rules over the our Earth. And we await its Celestial fall thousands of years from now. In Norse mythology the serpent is called the Midgard serpent. Thor destiny is to destroy this serpent. All of Marvels movies deal with this mythology. Thor, Loki, Hydra, Captain America( Orion), Red Skull( Ophuichus the serpent bearer). In the Cap's movie when Zola hits the lever and Cap and Skull are shown at opposite one another with a great expanse between them, that is the heavenly relationship between Orion and Ophuichus) The bible calls them The Father(Orion) and Satan (Ophuichus). Ophuichus is now apart of the Ecliptic and apart of the twelve zodiac houses. When the SUN passes through Ophuichus( he becomes the SON OF MAN mentioned in the Bible. The very SON of MAN whose return we have been awaiting. Nasa even reported Ophuichus return to the ecliptic and the cycle of Life. So it really doesn't matter where the story of Noah is placed, because its not a historical event, its a celestial event.

^The amount of crap in your post and holes in your logic is seriously mind-numbing. I weep for humanity.

@super12 - the fact that you could make the ignorant statement above without disproving any of my points is the reason you should weep for humanity. You blindly believe the bible to be an historical record while offering no proof. I can prove my statement with the stories them selves. I know fantasy when I read it. Don't tell me you believe a serpent can talk, or that there is a flaming sword guarding Eden. Or that Samson could beat 1000 men or catch 400 foxes and tie their tails together. You believe a man could walk on water, or part a sea. That one man can be the light of the world. The stories in the bible are based off and the belief system came out of ancient Egypt and Greece. The very word folks end their prayers with(Amen) is Egyptian in origin. Its all based on ancient astronomy. None of the promises of the bible have been met. Jesus said in Revelation, lo I am coming soon, I don't think 2000 years and no return can be considered soon. Yet if people would just look up and realize these are celestial promises that occur, as the bible puts it in a HEAVENLY sanctuary. And the lords prayer says God's will is accomplished where? IN HEAVEN. Gods kingdom is the Kingdom of Heaven. And Daniel tells Nebuchadnezzar that his kingdom won't be restored until he realizes THAT THE HEAVENS RULE OVER HIM. The bible tells you were to look for understanding, yet ignorant folks on earth keep digging in the dirt trying to find evidence for a historical Jesus when their is none. Nor is there any evidence for Noah,Abraham ,Adam and eve,Moses and his miracles. Not to mention the fact that the old testament, by it's language alone can be dated to after Alexander entered Egypt. So the scrolls aren't as old as people would like them to be. The biblical stories doesn't concern themselves with what we do on earth. They could care less. The penalty for sin is death so no matter if your righteous or unrighteous your going to pay that price because all men die and all men whether righteous or unrighteous will be born again. To live age after age as the heavens and our Sun Continue to perfect us through evolutionary processes. The SUN is the only light of the world. The SUN is the sustainer of all life on earth. The SUN looks as if it's walking across the water as it rises over a body of water. And only THE SUN can calm the storm. Or provide food for millions via photosynthesis. No man can do these things. These stories are riddles within riddles and they can't be understood by those who no nothing of the sciences. They blind the ignorant and enlighten those who seek true knowledge. So you can keep believing some dude in a white sheet is gonna come save you. I'll keep studying the heavens, harmonics, the elements, Quantum physics, astronomy and cosmology, all the sciences hidden in the biblical stories, and learn how I relate to the Universe. A MAN WORSHIPPING ANOTHER MAN IS THE HEIGHT OF IGNORANCE AND APOSTASY! So yeah...weep for humanity and weep for yourself too, cause you and your lack of knowledge is part of the problem.
