Does Dwayne Johnson ever just take a moment to relax? Fresh off his blockbuster movies Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Rampage, and Skyscraper, Johnson has started filming Jungle Cruise while announcing the renewal of his hit HBO show Ballers. His IMDB page reveals a number of other projects in the works including a sequel to Jumanji, Black Adam, and a ton more. But wait, there's also Hobbs and Shaw, the long-awaited spin-off to the successful action franchise Fast & Furious.

The upcoming film, which stars Johnson and his partner in crime Jason Statham, has had a bumpy road, but it looks like it has cleared all of its hurdles. Johnson took to Instagram to celebrate the start of work on Hobbs and Shaw. He posted a photo of co-star Jason Statham alongside director David Leitch in front of some slick cars that I'll never be able to afford. Johnson added that he'll join them in London in two weeks.

DAY 1 and the evolution has officially begun. Long awaited Fast & Furious spin-off movie, #HobbsAndShaw is electric. My partner in heavy crime & fun @jasonstatham is lookin’ like $1million bucks and holdin’ it all down. Our visionary & bad ass director @davidmleitch (just directed Deadpool2) at the helm and ready to evolve the franchise in exciting and fresh new ways. And as always, our @sevenbucksprod president @hhgarcia41 capturing the dopest images thru his 📷 lens. Keep crushing on that set boys... the man known as “HOBBS” will touch down in London in two weeks. Pancakes, tequila and ass kickin’s 🥞🥃 on me. #Day1 #TheEvolution #HobbsAndShaw

Both Statham and Leitch also shared the photo, adding their own personal touch to commemorate the start of production on Hobbs and Shaw.

Joining Johnson and Statham on this action-packed adventure will be The Crown's Vanessa Kirby, who will reportedly play an MI-5 agent and Shaw's sister. Idris Elba has also signed on and will reportedly play the film's main villain going up against special agent Luke Hobbs and criminal mastermind Deckard Shaw.

Hobbs and Shaw hits theaters July 26, 2019.

@Typobutcorrect - This crap really should have ended with Fast and Furious 6 or 7. The series had already become ridiculous but at least we had Paul Walker back then. Its like the Terminator series, people go to see the big unstoppable action star Vin Deisel/Arnold Schwartzenegger. But if you dont have the the normal guy Brian/John Conner, it just doesnt work, you need a normal guy. Sure there are other characters, but everyone else is either a big action hero character, Desil/Johnson/Rodriguez/Statham or comic relief characters, it no longer has a normal guy

This movie sounds fun as [frick]. The Rock and Statham were the best parts of Fast 8.

And to the haters on opening night:

I hate spin-offs with lazy ass titles that just use character names. Obviously it's for the audience to realise, but still.

I just watched DOOM for the first time from start to finish today. Wasnt as bad as I'd been expecting. I had zero interest in ever seeing it but just happened to be in the mood today.

Dwayne isnt the best actor ever but he's probably the best action star of this generation. He's the only actor that's really been able to produce one financially successful action movie after another since the action hero movies died down in the 2000s and superhero movies stepped in full time.

I'm looking forward to this.

He needs to stop making movies. This is ridiculous at this point now. His shit is B movie quality now.

I honestly forgot that this was being made and I have no desire to go see this spin off at all. But for real, the Rock needs to take a year off from making movies and go on a vacation. Dude makes too many shitty movies.

I like the logo they have of a bull and a lion (?).

Mindless fun is necessary sometimes.
