Back in July, Lionsgate announced that they will be splitting the final novel in Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games trilogy, Mockingjay, into two films (a la Harry Potter and Twilight). The first film was a big success with both critics and audiences, so the news that the studio were moving ahead with adapting the rest of the series was unsurprising. Afterwards, it was reported that director Francis Lawrence - who is currently shooting the Catching Fire adaptation for the studio - was unlikely to return to helm either parts of Mockingjay, due to the tight production schedules in between films (something that caused Gary Ross to drop out of Catching Fire after directing the first Hunger Games). Now, Collider reports that Lawrence has been hired to direct both parts of The Hunger Games finale, which has writer Danny Strong working on the script. Many of the cast members from the first film (including Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson) are signed on to reprise their respective roles in the sequels. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 is set to hit theaters November 21st, 2014; Part 2 is scheduled for a November 20th, 2015 release.

shit decision.

The Hunger Games was really good, except for the shaky camera. I'm hoping that Catching Fire will turn out to be better than Hunger Games since the book was the best of the trilogy. But Lionsgate's decision to split Mockingjay is undeniably stupid in a storytelling perspective cause Mockingjay is the worst book in the trilogy and the story shouldn't really be dragged on. Catching Fire is the one that deserves the split treatment.

i am sorry to the fans. if you like it great. but i thought the film was kinda mediocre.

my friends forced me to read the novels and i thought they were even worse. they're well-written sure. but the characterization and the content itself is beyond weak in my opinion. the first book was pretty bad, and the second book i couldn't even finish because it was just so godawful.

I loved the first book but as an adaptation, I do not like The Hunger Games what so ever. As a movie, it's grown on me. I am hoping Catching Fire is much better considering it's my favorite book of the trilogy and I am still working on Mockingjay, I haven't picked it up in two months cause of being side tracked. I think studios are splitting it into two parts so they can try to bank and get the success that the last two Harry Potter films got.

Hunger games was shit. a silly knock off of battle royale - for children though.
