Speculation is running rampant on who will be succeeding Daniel Craig as the next James Bond; Tom Hiddleston and Jamie Bell have both been rumoured to be in talks to replace Craig as the suave spy. Sam Mendes, who directed the two most recent Bond films, Skyfall and Spectre, has confirmed that he will not be returning to direct a third film. “It was an incredible adventure, I loved every second of it,” the filmmaker said at the Hay Festival in Wales. “But I think it’s time for somebody else. I’m a storyteller, and at the end of the day, I want to make stories with new characters.”

When it comes to the Bond franchise, fans are always eager to fan-cast their favourite actors in the role, and this round has been no exception. Michael Fassbender, Henry Cavill, and Idris Elba have all been regular contenders in the minds of fans, but according to Mendes, fans' wishes play no part whatsoever in the casting a new Bond. “It’s not a democracy,” he said. “Barbara Broccoli decides who is going to be the next Bond, end of story. I can guarantee whatever happens with it, it will not be what you expect,” he added. “That’s what she has been brilliant at, and that’s how it’ll survive.”

Do you think fans should have a say in who plays Bond? Who would you like to see in the role? Sound off below!

when it comes to spy movies i MUCH prefer mission impossible one of my favorite film franchises of all time for just dumb action and spy schennanigans. bond gets taken seriously, sorta, sometimes. i dont like that, either go full spy like bourne or full schlock like:

@ALostCause -

I was 15 when MI2 came out and I remember really enjoying it and when I watched it a few years later.

Plus it had Thandie Newton

@SimplyAz - i was 8 when 2 came out so it had me playing spy for months to years, then the third came out. the first one kinda scared me lol, so i still have this psycho-analytical kinda shock that i experienece when i watch his whole group get slaughtered.

it was probably one of those times my parents had to explain to me the movie was fake hahaidk

Growing up, my parents watched the Bond movies when ever they were on, and I watched them because nothing else was on, so I do appreciate them but never the biggest fan.

That's why I liked Goldeneye and Casino Royale, because they were really good action films as well.
Whereas I watched Skyfall but didn't think it was the best film ever, heck I think Bardem's character from No Country for Old Men would have been a better and more formidable villain than what we got.

Still I think Connery was the best Bond as he had the look and feel of Bond but always felt dangerous.
