SCREAM QUEENS Star Lucien Laviscount Said To Be Among Those Eyed To Replace Daniel Craig As JAMES BOND

2023 should be the year we finally learn who will replace Daniel Craig as James Bond, and a new report suggests Scream Queens and Emily in Paris star Lucien Laviscount is among those being considered...

According to Mail Online (via ActioNewz.com), British actor Lucien Laviscount has emerged as the latest frontrunner to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond. While the source means we're taking this with a pinch of salt, it's said that his role in Netflix's Emily in Paris caught the attention of franchise bosses Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.

The 30-year-old is thought to be the perfect age for the next 007, while MGM is supposedly keen to hire a non-white actor in order to break new ground with Bond and better reflect today's world.

An "insider" tells the site, "Lucien ticks all of the boxes. He is a super talented actor, is extremely handsome and in the past 18 months has won lots of new fans since he joined Emily In Paris. Bond bosses are already saying how you can see him in the 007 tuxedo, how dapper and fitting to the role he will look."

"But, there is a sticking point, and that is Big Brother. Lucien appeared on the show at a time when his acting career was not as high-profile as it is now, but he was very popular then and has a fan base now which stretches generations," they continue. "That is a dream for Barbara who is very taken with him."

This is, of course, tabloid reporting and probably not something we should put too much stock in. We're sure many British actors - both known and unknown - are currently being considered to pick up where Craig left off. The site has shared some reliable Bond intel in the past, though, meaning we can't entirely discount these claims.

Interestingly, the report ends by pointing out that stuntpeople are already being tested at Pinewood Studios, so chances are work on the movie is further along than thought.

Going back to Laviscount, he made a name for himself in British dramas like Clocking Off and Coronation Street before a stint in Celebrity Big Brother saw him land a role in Waterloo Road. From there, he managed to break into America with roles in Scream QueensYour Christmas Or Mine, and Sex Education

Do you think the actor would make a good 007? Let us know in the comments section.

Seems like bait...where's the source on that?

Unfamiliar with the lad. Seems like he's dashing enough. Ultimately race isn't an issue for me, and though I know canonically James Bond is the characters name and 007 is the designation, showing his parents were Bonds and such, but I've always liked the fan theory about James Bond being a code name used by several different secret agents, and one one dies the next top agent becomes the next James Bond, continuing the legend of the unkillable MI:6 agent.

I wouldn't mind the next iteration of the franchise adopting that mythology. Because when you think about it, Bond only introduces himself as James Bond as an intimidation tactic, when he needs to draw upon his legend, otherwise he goes undercover as an alias. So really, anyone could become James Bond.... well so long as they are a man. The legendary James Bond isn't known as being a woman.

So long as there is a great story, cast any race as James, so long as they can play British and are the most charismatic and best actor for the part.

@TheVandalore - I've always loved that fan theory. It's a really novel way to honor each actor who's played Bond, and kinda loosely acknowledge the entirety of this long-running franchise while still leaving room for new adaptations, new takes, and new talent.

Steal a page from Doctor Who and give us the never-ending cycle of 007's.

@DarkModeDan - exactly! And I'm fine with them kinda play fast and loose with which bonds use that Canon, because now a days it's all really head canon anyways.

I refuse to believe Disney Star Wars canon is more legitimate than the years of EU content I grew up on, on that a general audience member is to naive to understand the logic of a multiverse. So in a way, I'm beginning to become very comfortable with absorbing multiple canons at the same time. I honest feel Sony could get away with releasing Spider-Man 4 then The Amazing Spiderman 3 then finishing the Spiderverse animated movies before Holland starts his second trilogy and the general audience wouldn't even need it explained to them at this point.

So having some Bond movies be the classic canon and newer bond movies using the fan theory as new canon, I'd be fine splitting the two. I'd even be fine using the previous bond movies as history for the new movies and those older actors are the past bonds, while still knowing this is just new canon that doesn't actually change the old canon. If that made sense lol

@TheVandalore - Nah, that makes sense! And I agree 100% on general audiences being at the point where they can understand multiverses. Would love to see a (well-written) legacy sequel to Tobey's Spidey or Andrew's Spidey, but I doubt Sony has the balls to do it.

And Star Wars.

Oh Star Wars.

I'm starting to wish Lucasfilm would embrace the idea of a Star Wars multiverse, but head canon works fine for now. I still wish they had done a sort of compromise and more closely adapted elements from the EU instead of abandoning it entirely. It kills me so much that something with god-tier writing like the Thrawn trilogy will probably never get a decent live-action adaptation, but Episode 9's empty excuse for a script gets the greenlit. 🤣

Urghhh....really? Now even poor ol Bond can't escape the wokeness. There's 1 and only 1 reason this guy would be in the running and thats to tick boxes, and then MGM can pat themselves on the back at how inclusive they are. Utterly ridiculous.
