UPDATE: Common Joins JOHN WICK 2 As Lead Villain; Ian McShane Returning
John Wick 2 has found its villain! The upcoming action sequel, has enlisted Suicide Squad actor Common to face off with Keanu Reeves' titular assassin. Plus, Ian McShane has been confirmed to return!
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that actor/musician/poet Lonnie Rashid Lynn, better known to the world as Common, has inked a deal to join Lionsgate's upcoming action sequel John Wick 2 as the film's villain, which means he'll soon be seen squaring off with Keanu Reeves' titular assasin with a heart.
The upcoming sequel to the hit 2014 film is expected to kick off production later this week. Chad Stahelski, who co-directed the original, is directing with a script from Derek Kolstad, who also penned the original. Outside of Reeves & Common, no word yet on the rest of the cast, but expect more announcements relatively soon.
Common will be seen next in Warner Bros' Suicide Squad and then in MGM's Barbershop 3. His recent film appearances include Entourage, Run All Night, Selma, Date Night, Terminator: Salvation, Wanted, and American Gangster.
UPDATE: The Hollywood Reporter has now confirmed that Ian McShane (Game Of Thrones) will reprise his role from this original film. In case you need a refresher, he portrayed Winston, the owner of the boutique hotel that housed Wick and caters to the hit-person community with its discretion, on-call doctors, and no-killing rule.
