Earlier this week, it was revealed that director Jack Bender has decided to drop out of
Jack Ryan, a Tom Clancy creation who has previously been played by Alec Baldwin (
The Hunt for Red October), Harrison Ford (
Patriot Games/
Clear and Present Danger) and Ben Affleck (
The Sum of All Fears). However, the film is still going ahead with a tentative release date set for either 2013 or 2014.
THOR director Kenneth Branagh is now in talks to helm the project which will still include
Star Trek's Chris Pine as the CIA analyst. Paramount are reportedly planning to start production this September and have hired
Spider-Man screenwriter David Koepp to rewrite the script.
