This movie and The Dark Knight Trilogy are the best action movies in years. Add Kingsman to that as well.

The Raid 1/2 + Mad Max Fury Road = The Only Modern Day Action Movies You Will Ever Need.

I thought the character development and plot were subtlety there. Every character felt in some way developed, and the plot was there as well. I don't see how it is hard to see.

Mad max>>>every cbm since TDK

Its excellent.

After a half dozen of:
Tony stark is a dick to everyone/his tech is stolen or gets out of control/ a villain or antagonist with a justifiable gripe against him/ a brief moment of candor where he realises his hubris has put him and others in danger/ builds a new gadget/pledges he's seen the error of his ways/ goes back to being a dick.

Im glad to see something else.

The most surprising characer arc to me was that goofy warrior slave who started out worshipping "immortal joe"
He ended up very sympathetic

I doubt this is better than any Raid movie. Who honestly consider the TDK trilogy an action movie, more like a dark soap drama.

@fettastic

If they don't add anything different and new to the franchise, I'll wait and save my money. Thanks for the low down.

@JorL5150

It is the best since TDK. I still love the MCU but it is formulaic, and Fury Road was not just a different fantasy film, it was solid storytelling and brilliant filmmaking. Right on bud.

Exactly. Mad max made me bored with the usual summer popcorn movies
Kind of already was.

@gaiking
DREDD should have been more violent.

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD....

Speechless.

It was a great movie and I would recommend it to anyone.

BUT what people are saying about too much Furiosa and not enough Max is pretty much accurate. I totally get why Miller did it that way, but at the same time if you make a movie about a character it should be about that character.

@ fettastic: You don't understand Mad Max.
When it comes to story telling and plot, you just can't ask too much from these films. That has never been it's strong point and it's not supposed to be.
It's MEANT to be a simple, harsh tale of a lone warrior in the apocalypse. And the strength of them lays entirely in the atmosphere, the harshness, the desperation, and the insane action are the goods.

And character study too takes a bit of a back seat. Max is a shell of a man. When you take a warrior and rip his heart out what you have left is a living, breathing siege engine; the fight is all that's left. So there's not a lot to learn about him.

Haven't seen any of The Raid movies but IMO Fury Road is the best action flick I've seen in years.

Yes the movie was pretty damn awesome....and imo tops The Road Warrior, the best of the originals. Lots of blood and fire in basically one long, crazy car chase. And the soundtrack/guitar guy was INSANE!!! You're missing out if not seeing it in the theater, just saying.

@fettastic

I think you missed the point if you're going to rip on the plot. The plot was simple on purpose, but despite that it was still very interesting and it made sense why people would do what they would do.

The characters were developed great too and they all fit seamlessly into this world.

A redo of the 3rd act of The Road Warrior? Well, yes it was!!
