Charlize Theron And Tom Hardy To Star In Mad Max 4?

According to E! Online the pair are being sought after by George Miller for his next post apocalyptic adventure...,................

E! Online are claiming "multiple sources" have told them that George Miller is looking to cast Charlize Theron as the lead female in the upcoming Mad Max movie. Since Mel Gibson won't be reprising the role, he is also looking for British actor Tom Hardy(Bronson) to replace him as the slightly unstable Road Warrior.

Miller originally had plans to bring the fourth movie to the screen in animated form, but when he announced that he would begin work on a live action sequel back in 2007, Miller admitted Gibson was too old for the antihero role of "Mad" Max Rockatansky, and said, "I don't think he would be interested in being involved at all."

Well, fair enough I guess..but still, its hard to imagine anyone playing Max like Mel did. I love the first two movies. I enjoyed the third one too, despite its many flaws. Hardy is a very good actor, as is Theron, so this isn't the worst casting news, providing it turns out to be true.

You don't know that. Miller is still in the directing chair and Hardy is a fine actor.

Hes 53 years old..and doesn't want to do it! How the hell is Miller supposed to pull off that miracle? I'd rather see the movie without him than not at all, provided they get someone that can pull it off. At least its Hardy and not Robert Pattinson or something!

Im a huge fan of all the Mad Max movies. I love Australia, the desert, muscle cars. I used to like Mel too, but not any more. Of course he's too old and, while it's unlikely that they will be able to find anyone with acting skills anywhere near Gibson level, I have high hopes that the new blood will be an apt player and decently well chosen.

What happened to MAD MAX 4 where GIBSON was suppose to be the character one last time, and finish the franchise???

The character was planned to be killed off and end on a high!

This has sh!T written all the way through it! : D

Tea, exactly, there is no where near enough info on this to decide how it will turn out.

Leee what on earth have either of those movies got to do with the new Max one aside from both being futuristic, cyber punk movies?

LEEE777 - 10/22/2009, 6:49 AM

Oh gawd i hate the Mad Max films... Never liked anyone of them. I'm all up for post apocalyptic scenarios when it's well written but there's something about "desert" movies that just disgust me. It's probably why i never liked "DUNE" either. And no, Waterworld wasn't any better. It was totaly shyte LOL :P The "stranded" aspect really doesn't tickle my pickle. Which is also why i never was a fan of the "Survivor" show. Wow... this feels like therapy, all my hatred is flushing out at the same time LOLOL :P

Well, id rather see Mel but Thunderdome pretty much finished the series in a small degree. They showed how he saved them (as kids) and they started the new society. So all they could do is fill in the gaps with other adventures...blah.

If they use a new actor im wondering if they are going the re-boot route of pick up after say MM2 and before MM3 (sort of like Fast n Furiest did).

Well, we will have to see...
I just hope it have the rugged feel vs a big production feel. Im a old school fan of max.

Ok, so they were both remakes/reboots and sucked..Star Trek and Incredible Hulk were too..and didn't, so whats your point?
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 10/22/2009, 7:22 AM
INCREDIBLE HULK wasn't INCREDIBLE lol!! It was on par with ANG LEES HULK, an i liked 'em both. but both could've been better!

Its like REBOOTING INDY, you just dont do it!

TEA @ The fact you dont want a VENOM movie but love this sh!Te says it all lol!!

HOLLYWOODS run out of ideas, TREK worked coz the time line was changed.

Anyway whats wrong with wanting GIBSON back for one last time to end it on a high!!!???

That was the original plan for the franchise, this thing here is just a COP out lol, it will sink quicker than the Titanic! : D

Still happy for those who want it, but i wont be watching this, even when it does come to TV!

End it on MAD MAX 4 or dont bother!

Great site for Mad Max stuff is MadMaxMovies.com.

Mel said he wouldn't do it because he would be Fat Max.

Rumor has / had it that the premise was clean blood was now more precious than gasoline.

Another rumor is that vehicles have already been built and are mothballed at the moment.

All three movies made 90 million combined stateside.

The Interceptor is one of the all time great bad ass vehicles as far as I am concerned.

MarkCassidy - 10/22/2009, 7:31 AM
Nothing is wrong with wanting Gibson back but the old bastard doesn't want to be back! Your logic makes no sense. So because they changed the timeline in Trek that made it ok? Thats a plot detail! And this is the dude thats all for an X Men reboot too! This is the same director as the previous movies, its his stories. Its not even strictly a reboot as he's calling it Mad Max 4..now whether he's continuing on the story I don't know, you would think he would cast older than Hardy if that was the case...

LEEE777 - 10/22/2009, 7:34 AM
Dark Interceptor of the summer!! Lol! ; D

Look im happy for ya TEA & ROR! I just think its gonna blow donkey chunks!! : D

MarkCassidy - 10/22/2009, 7:37 AM
Yeah..but why?:)..I'm not letting you off the hook on this one Lee!, you have absolutely no reason to think this will suck solely because Gibson isn't involved..no clip, no poster, nothing. Its like just assuming Captain America will suck balls..after all, thats a remake too remember!;)

Tom would be a good pic for MadMax he played Praetor Shinzon IN Nemesis pretty good. As for Mel Gibson, he is to old & his prime has passed. NOt even in good Condition. Mel was great, but time to moved forward.

LEEE777 - 10/22/2009, 9:47 AM
ASSASSIN @ Actually FARRELL is perfect for MAX!! I'd watch it if he did it!!

ROR @ Okay, it might, i say might be okay, but it is like giving the INDY franchise another INDY!!

I suppose we'll all have to see, once they start some shoots an stuff!!

P.S. CAP will suck BALLZ if TACKLES is in it lol! ; D

God, this is going to suck as much wang as the new indiana jones and star wars movies (except episode 3, that one was decent.)After this hollywood has officially ruined all the trilogy's from my childhood.

I think Sam Worthington would be a better fit for this role Collin ferral is a good pick to but i think Sam Worthington is perfect think about it guys

I am all for a new Mad Max movie and extremely thankful that they are doing a continuation and not a remake. Tired of the remakes. As for the actor, I am fine with new talent so long as he actually has talent, and from what I have seen and heard of Hardy he can pull it off. As much as I love Mel, there are other people who can take over the good roles and play the part. I am looking forward to seeing this if it pans out.

I can also see how people would have issues with an iconic character from their childhood being changed, if it was someone new trying to play Jack Burton I would probably have an issue too.

It would be great to see Sam Worthington as Mad Max. Hardy looks like a great choice for a villain

Sam Worthington? I'm getting real tired of hearing this kid's name. I wouldn't want some flavor of the month actor anywhere near Mad Max. I don't want him as Capt America either, matter of fact I don't want him for any comic movie EVER!!!!!! There are so many people on this site that are sucking Worthingtons dick too hard. I won't say I told you so when he finally leaves a bad taste in your mouths.
Swiftsword777
Swiftsword777 - 10/22/2009, 2:07 PM
@ASSASSIN666 flavor of the month??that had crap to do with why i picked him he is just perfect for the role plain and simple 777>666

ASSASSIN666 - 10/22/2009, 2:52 PM
I am well familiar with the trinity too pinhead. Your boy Worthington is a pure example of the waiter who got discovered syndrome so deal with it. Farrell is so much better suited for Max plain and simple. What the f**k has Worthington done to impress upon you that he's even a decent actor let alone just a kid who got lucky? Yeah flavor of the month, I look for talent, not some jerk-off who comes along and everyone wants to put him in every movie they can think of. I don't worship at the alter of Worthington, there's way better out there for me think of as true up and coming actors. Too bad you wasted a hard-on for this schmuck.

How the hell can anyone think Sam Worthington is perfect for anything when we have only seen him in one movie??? I'm so [frick]ing sick of.."oh, yes, Sam is the man for that..No one would be better than SAm" ONE MOVIE!!! And he was at best mediocre in it! Just because the dude is in lots of up coming movies, you haven't [frick]ing seen them yet! The dude could be nominated for a razzie next year for Avatar for all we know.
Swiftsword777
Swiftsword777 - 10/22/2009, 4:34 PM
@Rorschach01 what makes sam so bad for the role
Joe6Pack74
Joe6Pack74 - 10/22/2009, 9:19 PM
This is a great idea. Mel is too old to play Mad Max and is enjoying a career as a director. "The Passion of the Christ" was an excellent movie. I see no problem with updating and renewing the franchise. It worked for the Incredible Hulk, which beat the hell out of the brokeback mountain version Ang Lee made. It all comes down to how well they write and polish a script.
niknik
niknik - 10/22/2009, 11:28 PM
Mel Gibson IS Mad Max. Any Mad Max film without him is NOT worth seeing to me......and since when is 58 too old in Hollywood??? Mel still looks good enough to pull off a late 40's Mad Max and that would be just about right for the final chapter in the Mad Max saga. For cryin' out loud you have Harrison Ford doing "Indy" at 70 friggin years old!!! Mel looks young enough to be his son!

That's what really burns me about this whole cockamaimey idea. There's no reason not to go with Mel other than Mel himself refusing to revisit the role, and if that's the case, better to just leave it alone.
