E! Online are claiming "multiple sources" have told them that George Miller is looking to cast Charlize Theron as the lead female in the upcoming
Mad Max movie. Since Mel Gibson won't be reprising the role, he is also looking for British actor Tom Hardy(Bronson) to replace him as the slightly unstable Road Warrior.
Miller originally had plans to bring the fourth movie to the screen in animated form, but when he announced that he would begin work on a live action sequel back in 2007, Miller admitted Gibson was too old for the antihero role of "Mad" Max Rockatansky, and said, "I don't think he would be interested in being involved at all."
Well, fair enough I guess..but still, its hard to imagine anyone playing Max like Mel did. I love the first two movies. I enjoyed the third one too, despite its many flaws. Hardy is a very good actor, as is Theron, so this isn't the worst casting news, providing it turns out to be true.
