MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6 Adds BLACK PANTHER Star Angela Bassett In A Key Role; Confirms Ving Rhames
Fresh off an acclaimed turn in Netflix's Master of None, Angela Bassett has joined the cast of Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible 6. Plus, we have confirmation on Ving Rhames' return!
Deadline is reporting and director Chris McQuarrie has confirmed that Academy Award-nominated actress Angela Bassett has joined the cast of Paramount's highly anticipated action sequel Mission: Impossible 6. She'll portray the new C.I.A. director, taking over for Alan Hunley, who took over the IMF at the end of Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation.
McQuarrie also confirmed that Ving Rhames will reprise his role as Luther Stickell, Ethan Hunt's oldest friend, continuing his streak as the only original cast member to appear in every film, outside of the face of the franchise, Tom Cruise.
Bassett recently wrapped Marvel's Black Panther, in which she plays Ramonda, the stepmother of Chadwick Boseman's title character. She also recently appeared in a second season episode of Netflix's critically acclaimed series Master of None, which debuted last week. Rhames made a surprise cameo as Charlie-27 in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 earlier this month.
