I remember in January last year I released a video with my top 10 most anticipated movies of 2018 and Alita Battle Angel was a movie I contimplated putting on that list for ages. It eventually slipped out of my top 10 because i honestly didn't think it'd release in 2018 after all the movie had been experiencing a rocky development. It turned out I was right and the film slipped into early 2019 and my thoughts had changed greatly. I once thought it looked super promising but after four delays my hopes for the film had all but disappeared. i went in and checked out Alita Battle Angel yesterday and despite my cinemas lights turning on half way through the movie, I have to admit, I freaking enjoyed the hell out of this movie.

I have no idea what the source material is about and as such no idea how close it plays to it so that is a factor that might put off hard core fans of the manga. That said I think the film on a whole offers plenty of exciting, creative action to entertain most anyone and Alita herself is such an endearing character that you can't help but enjoy every second of her time on screen. Rodriguez was also a great choice of director for Alita as well. His visceral and hard hitting directing style worked perfectly for a movie that moves along at such a pace.

if you enjoy sci-fi and cyber punk influenced movies this should be on top of your watch list.
