Noomi Rapace Joins Sherlock Holmes 2

Swedish actress Noomi Rapace, best known for playing Lisbeth Salander in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and it's sequels, has been cast in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes 2!

According to Heat Vision, actress Noomi Rapace has joined the cast of Guy Ritchie's upcoming sequel Sherlock Holmes 2. Swedish actress is best known for portraying Lisbeth Salander in the Millennium Trilogy (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl who Played with Fire, The Girl who Kicked the Hornets' Nest).

From Heat Vision:

"Noomi Rapace, the Swedish star of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, has booked her first English-language role: the plum part of the female lead in Warner Bros.'s Sherlock Holmes 2."

"Rapace's role is shrouded in mystery although sources say the character may be a French Gypsy. It is unclear if the role is romantic in nature."

The article goes on to say that Holmes will be facing Professor Moriarty, who was in the first film, but just in the shadows, without showing his face. It wasn't confirmed who voiced him, but there were rumors that Brad Pitt provided the voice and that he will play him in the upcoming sequel.

Both Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law are returning to reprise their roles and it was announced that they will start shooting very soon for a December 16, 2011 release date.

Am I the only one that thinks HOLMES 1 wasn't all that, I was very disappointed, god knows why they want to do a sequel...?

Get Richie off it, it might have a chance.

The first movie I thought was great. Am curious to see what roll Noomi Rapace will play. She did an awesome job in the Millennium Trilogy. Can't wait I'm there.

I greatly enjoyed the first one. The only thing I didn't like was McAdams, so hopefully she's either in the sequel less or not at all. Looking forward to this.

Great news! The first one was great! And now if they just get Daniel Day-Lewis (My number one choice), Bill Nighy or Gary Oldman as Moriarty im very very happy!!... No Pitt! He is not a bad actor, but he is not Moriarty i know!

Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was a great movie, the other one was decent but not as good as the first. I'm a little unsettled by the news of the re-make, but it is Daniel Craig, so it's off to a decent start.

Right on! the bbc series was amazing. Too bad it was only 3 episodes. Thankfully, they've already picked it up for series 2. Cross your fingers that it's substantially longer. My biggest reason being so I can say, Benedict Cumberbatch more often. C'mon say the name, it just brightens your day.:D

claybo@ Theres actually three of those movies. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (is the first one), The Girl Who Played With Fire (the second) and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest (the third)!

I totally recommend to watch them! They are pretty awesome thrillers (thou gotta agree with Trip. The first is the best)! Rapace is one of the main characters in it and plays a young tough hacker, who helps Journalist Mikael Blomkvist in his investigations.

@alex I know they are making an American version cause we are obviously too stupid to read subtitles, so they have made 3 movies already in Sweden?

best detective movie ever can't wait 4 part 2. i never liked films like this until i saw this one if they keep doing films good as this with comedy,romance in the mix, a crime happening and drama and action all in one the more I'll go to the movies to see this

Thats nice, but WB wants a December 16, 2011 release date? Wait The Avengers is supose to start filming prolly in January, and SH prolly not starting now the filming, so I´m worried if Robert Downey Jr. will be able to do The Avengers, prolly he will have a scheduling conflict. who knows lol
