Via The Hollywood Reporter, it has been revealed that 20th Century Fox has picked up the movie rights to the Dark Horse comic book series Mind MGMT, which is written by acclaimed author Matt Kindt. Legendary director Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Alien, Prometheus) will produce the adaptation via his Scott Free Banner, along with Dark Horse Entertainment’s Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg. A writer is currently being searched for, while no director is attached yet. Kindt's graphic novel 3 Story: The Secret History Of The Giant Man was previously set up for a film adaptation at Warner Bros., and was even attached to direct. The project is currently in turnaround while the script is being retooled. Meanwhile, Dark Horse has slated a July 19th date for R.I.P.D., which stars Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges. Below is a plot summary for Mind MGMT, and be sure to stay tuned to CBM for more news on the project.

The book centers on a government agency consisting of psychic spies and their greatest asset, a man named Henry Lime. After he suffers a breakdown and loses control of his abilities, causing the populace of a town to kill each other, he goes on the run. Several years later, a true crime author named Meru, who was part of a flight where everyone mysteriously developed amnesia, is saved by Lime and begins to investigate the agency, uncovering her own secret connection to it.

I've read some of Mind MGMT. Looking forward to the trade. Seems like a lot of things Ridley Scott is linked to doesn't get made.

this is one of the most original and intricately designed books i've read in a very, very long time. while i'm excited by the idea of a film, i'm worried that it may lose some of the tone and style when it's translated to live action; kindt's art is highly stylized, and i don't know if the story would be the same without it.

either way, matt kidnt is a great writer, and it's awesome to see a creator-owned series garnering this much acclaim.
