Big Hero 6, which won the 2015 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, hits retailers today on Blu-ray and DVD. It's also available via digital HD.  To celebrate the event, Disney has released a couple of character posters for the Marvel-inspired film, as well as three bonus clips - "Easter Egg," "Grappling Hook" and "Mixmaster Beatmax." If you missed my review of the film during Its theatrical release, make sure and check it out HERE. It's a great film and the home release has included some great features giving you an inside look at what went into the film, some of which is covered in a my other write-ups/visits with Walt Disney Animation Studios:

From Walt Disney Animation Studios, the team behind “Frozen” and “Wreck-It Ralph,” comes “Big Hero 6,” an original action-comedy-adventure about a robotics prodigy and a plus-sized inflatable robot, who develop a special bond on a quest to solve an unsettling mystery.

When a devastating event befalls the city of San Fransokyo and catapults Hiro into the midst of danger, he turns to Baymax and his brilliant fellow nerds: adrenaline junkie GoGo Tomago, neatnik Wasabi, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred. Determined to uncover the mystery, Hiro transforms his friends into a band of high-tech heroes called “Big Hero 6.”

How to Train Your Dragon 2 was better. I like Big Hero 6 but I don't see how it won that category - then I remembered, Disney.

This was good, but there were better animated fares this years, such as Lego, Dragon 2, and even Boxtrolls. It and Brave winning at the Oscars prove that it's all politics.

I was surprised when this won the Best Animated Feature. I liked it and all, but compared to the other nominees it shouldn't have won the award.

@LexHairFlight
As soon as the tragic event happened at the science expo or w/e,
I knew what I was in for. I knew who the red herring was as well as the actual man responsible. I knew where the story was headed because that message was blatantly following a formula (those stages of grief), but I stuck around for the jokes/action. Suffice is to say I was bored half the time.

At the very least I wanted more perspective from the team, but the movie just had to lump all 4 of his compadres as Hiro's support group. I also wanted more individualized interaction between each 2 or 3 of them, since...they...go way back?...

...Good flick, nonetheless.

@SteveRogers9 Want more proof? Most of its awards came from technical achievements (animation, environments, character models)
Damn, Visual Effects Society rigged the ballot.

Wait, just the day after it won the Academy Award? What a coincidence.

Great film, but I wouldn't classify this as a "Super Hero" film.
Where is Sunfire at????

BIg Hero 6 was great, but How To Train Your Dragon 2 was way more deserving of the Oscar; but anything DISney/PIxar [frick]ing releases animation wise wins 9 times out of 10

Lego Movie is better.. But BH6 was still great.

BH6 was definitely better than How to Train Your Dragon 2.

Callaghan and minibots are a good example of how powerful Invisible Woman could be with a decent director less interested in making a "grounded" superhero film. Multiple forcefields hammering bad guys, protecting civilians, and constraining minions. Plus, hers can be airtight.
