BIG HERO 6 Characters Will NOT Be Making Their Live-Action Debut In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is, and it's now been confirmed that despite yesterday's exciting rumour, characters from the world of Big Hero 6 will not be making their live-action debut...

Big Hero 6 was a hit when it was released in 2014, so it's easy to see why so many fans got excited at the idea of characters from the world of San Fransokyo making their live-action debuts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unfortunately, the prospect of Baymax hanging out with the Avengers was indeed too good to be true, as Variety has debunked the rumour.

The trade says that they've confirmed this with a source at Marvel Studios, so that's about as official as you can get.

However, it's worth noting that we've seen the trades share denials like this before, only to later report that an actor is, in fact, in talks to play one of the characters they claimed we wouldn't see on screen! It's also not as if Marvel Studios would turn around and tell them, "Why, yes, we are secretly working on bringing Baymax and company to the MCU!"

As a result, we're every bit as in the dark as we were 24 hours ago. It's easy enough to see the appeal of borrowing characters from the Big Hero 6 franchise for the MCU, but at the same time, it's hard to imagine where they could fit (and why Disney would want to give up a lucrative animated property).

As per usual, we'll keep you updated if and when we hear more.

They have no reason to. Was Baymax going to be Night nurse?

@dracula - I hope so but if anything that probably means they feel the property has run its course. Really hope im wrong though

@Ha1frican - if I remember correctly they announced a D+ show at the Disney Investers Day. It’s call Baymax I’m pretty sure.

@Ha1frican - I’m excited. My son loves the movie so it’ll be a cool show to watch with him.

Superman and Lois airs tonight

A bit too much padding but hell yeah, that is a real superman

Would be cool if it happens, I can see Marvel wanting to explore BH6 world a lot more but since Disney Animation is too busy they may want to bring them to live-action instead and make them part of the MCU while they're at it.

Did anyone believe it. they only had 3 issues in comics and they had to be completely reimagined for the movie

Rather have another animated film anyway.

To be honest, it was a pretty far-fetched rumor to believe. Disney animation took a lot of liberties with the characters and I believe still have the rights to proceed with those versions. It would had conflicted with whatever vision Kevin Feige wanted to tell if he tried to adapt to live-action. With all the projects that Kevin Feige is producing on, I just don't see Big Hero Six as a priority to the MCU. Disney is probably smart to allow Disney Animation have their fun and keep it separate from what Marvel Studios has planned.

Being honest I didn't really expect it to be true. At least not for now.

@YonnyLayna - Exiles would be cool, but need to fully establish the x men and the multiverse first

I agree about the trade share denials thing. The Eternals movie was debunked before Marvel announced it officially in 2019. I'd imagine they're lying about Big Hero 6 not joining the MCU, so they can repeat history.
