Surprisingly, the rights to Courageous Cat are not held by DC Comics and Warner Bros., despite the fact that it is believed Bob Kane created the character as a parody of his earlier work on
Batman. Instead, Evergreen Media Group has made a deal with Telefeatures to bring him to the big screen in a new live action/CGI hybrid reports
Deadline. At this point, there is no writer or director attached to the project, although Telefeatures director Debbie Litt had this to say about Evergreen's acquisition.
"For years we resisted overtures for the property. However, because of Tony [DeRosa-Grund, the company's co-founder] and Evergreen’s longstanding track record of finding great new takes to reboot classic properties we had a significant comfort level in entrusting them with Courageous Cat." Courageous Cat and his partner Minute Mouse are described as anthropomorphic animal superheroes without secret identities (the green-eyed caped crimefighter and his squeaky-voiced companion are usually addressed as simply "Courageous" and "Minute") who live in the Cat Cave and, when summoned via the Cat Signal over their television set, race to the scene of the crime in their sleekly feline red Cat Mobile which can convert into both the extendable-winged Cat Plane and submersible Cat Boat and thwart the criminal plots of various villains who threaten Empire City.
