Black Lightning (Jefferson Pierce) was one of the first major African American superheroes to appear in DC Comics. He debuted in Black Lightning #1 (April 1977), and was created by Tony Isabella and Trevor Von Eeden. -Wikipedia

Directed, written and produced by Lynell Forestall, the Black Lightning bit is about the character dealing with the superhero life and being a father (he has two daughters-Thunder and Lightning). Forestall also talks about his initial plans of the piece and how he wanted it to embody a black-exploitation film. If you watch the video below, it obviously didn’t take place as planned.

Sounds like the producers killed the Black guy's dream. Sucks... but I'll still watch it.

DC is really doing a good job with expanding their universe to a new generation. Seeing all these cartoons being targeted towards children makes me think that the relaunch of their 52 title comics was a good idea. GO DC!
