Details On The New Thundercats Animated Series

We haven't heard much from this in a while, but now thanks to MTV and show producer Michael Jelenic, we have some new details..

Thundercats are incredibly, almost inexplicably popular. Don't get me wrong, I loved it too. Had all the action figures etc. But I think its amazing how the love for the show has endured all these years. So when a new animated show was announced, people(after they expressed their disappointment that it wasn't a live action movie we were getting!) were very excited indeed.

The new show's producer Michael Jelenic dropped by MTV and revealed some interesting stuff. He says that the term "reimagining" will only refer to a bit of tinkering with the mythology. Jelenic says they plan to simplify things a little..

"It's a pretty complicated backstory that borrows from a lot of other sci-fi stuff, like Superman and Star Wars. In developing this, I wanted it to be a little more simple. In the other version, there's something like three different planets involved, and they all converge onto one planet, and nobody's really connected. I just wanted to bring that all together. It's reimagined in that way, but at the same time, we're going to see the characters that we love,"

Awesome! Panthro, Tygra, Cheetarah..Snarf. Yes folks, Liono's annoying nurse maid is back..

"Everyone always wants to know about Snarf, He will be in it, and he will not talk. Don't worry. He won't be going, 'Lion-O, why don't you do this? We just having him say, 'Snarf! Snarf!' That's a way to get him in the show without annoying every single person who hates him. It's funny, because people are always like, 'I hate Snarf! Wait. you're not going to put him in? That's terrible!'"

I'm glad Snarf is in, but also glad he'l be mute! So what can we expect from the animation style, and the new look of the characters?

"I think when people see the final character designs, people will think it's a different take, but it will feel very familiar to the old series. The colors aren't quite as bright as they were. I's a little darker take, but you'll recognize everybody."

"We have some great artists [on 'Thundercats'], We're using a very famous Japanese animation studio, Studio4C, which did 'The Animatrix.' They're going to have their signature stuff on it. It's going to be pretty epic."

Great stuff. I still want a live action movie though:(

Paulie- That series was actually pretty cool. Sure it didn't give us chills of joy as much as the original and their theme sucked but it was still very decent. The villains were actually cooler than the originals, i thought. But there was definitely a severe lack of Princess of Power; SHE-RA!!!

Yeah I thought that new He man show was pretty good. It updated the old (very dated by today's standards..just watch it if you don't believe me!) show and changed a bit of stuff but kept all the character's histories etc the same. I also want a Bravestar movie..that isn't like Jonah Hex!

RorMachine- Yeah, the original Masters of the Universe is very dated. However, i can't get enough of the original She-Ra. Don't ask me why but it just looks & sounds... better :)

I love it!!! Im fine with a new animated series and not a movie. Just glad Snark isnt talking, he may have been comic element(rarely) but I wanted Lion-O to stab that damn cat most of the time. I see the darker take on it being as memorable as Batman: The animated series when they went with a "black canvass"

The 2000s He-man series was awesome...I was really upset that it got cancelled. I loved the look of the power sword. Even the differences in Adam & He-man. Adam being actually smaller.
The original is dated & the only visual difference between Adam & He-man was just skin colour & voice.

Glad to hear that the Snarf will be mute. He was really annoying. The rest of the show was so damn good that I put up with him. I always really enjoyed the 80's show, and look forward to seeing what new schemes Mumm-Ra has concocted. He was a great villain.

I hope the animation is like the old one and not cartoony like how they made Batman the brave and the bold or Marvel superhero squad. Its not just for kids! ppl.

Thundercats reborn? I'm very curious how it will be received by the original TC fans (80s TC fans).

I hope they don;t make the same mistake like they did with Inspector Gadget, draining it till its dead and burried.

I can only say that nothing can compete with the oldschool TC from the 80s.

Thundercats at back to the 80s
